Mine is a 2 door JL Sport. It drives great.
My wife has a 4 door Mini Cooper.
The 1st difference is that my Jeep has body sway around corners so I am careful around corners.
The 2nd difference is the the seat of the mini is comfy on a long drive.
My 2 door has a better turning circle than the mini.

The main thing I had to get used to with mine is the obvious drop in power and maneuverability while on-road.

Coming out of a SRT GC, I knew this going in, so it's not a question of disappointment, but more of just adjusting. Gotta give a bit more room to accelerate off ramps, lane changes, etc. Wait a bit longer when passing vehicles on two lane roads...those kinds of things.

Otherwise, outside of the "tech", the basics feel the same. Firm ride (I always left my SRT in Sport mode, so I'm used to the "roughness" of the JL. I might even argue it's less bumpy than the SRT was lol)

The one thing I thought would take a lot of getting used to is the windshield position. When I test drove a few JL's, it was SO weird having it so close! Turns out, I was all good after a week or so maybe even less after taking mine home

The relative closeness of my new Wrangler's windscreen was indeed a bit of culture shock after turning over the keys to the truck that I just traded in. I owned a YJ with an even more upright windscreen, but that was 25 years ago, so the memory files were long gone.

Like you, I adjusted to it in short order. Now, when I drive my wife's Honda, the base of the glass (where it meets the dashboard) seems like it's miles away.

I owned/leased several model Toyotas over the course of about 30 years. The controls were the same in all models (wipers, lights, climate, radio). Got my first Jeep a few months ago and still trying to figure out where everything is. Besides that I love the way the Jeep drives. Much smoother, quicker and more responsive than the Tacoma or most other Toyotas I had.

I drove a 2017 Caravan GT for work. I put about 10,000 miles a month on it.

get back in my Jeep and I love the way it feels. It rides better than the van, and it has a more plush feel. Didn’t feel that way from the factory though.
10,000 miles a month? Did you mean to write Cessna Caravan?

I enjoyed reading all the replies! The most consistent comment over the 4+ pages was "you'll get used to it".

That's what I was thinking/hoping. It drives like a Jeep and, that's actually a good thing.

Several of you said, "when I first got my jeep I thought I made a mistake". That's the feeling I had but wouldn't admit it. I feel so much better knowing that everyone that said that, now says they got used to it and love it.

My other vehicle is a 2007 Duramax. I love that too and at first didn't think it drove that well. After owing it for 16 years, and lowering the pressure when not towing or hauling, I think it drives just fine.

@DaveL I have the regular transfer case with no auto 4wd.

I'm enjoying this thread and thanks to everyone for your advice, info or reassurance.

I never had any trouble getting used to it.
When I bought my used Sport it had the minivan tires at 40 psi. Now I'm running it on Rubicon tires at around 36 psi. I drove 700 miles 2 days ago, no problem at all.

I know what you mean but it comes with driving a Jeep. When I drive my wives '22 Mercedes SUV it's effortless. I had a gen 2 Viper for a few years, like my Jeeps, requires some attentive driving but I absolutely enjoy it!

I would recommend installing the Mopar LCA's, $85 & 30 minutes of your time can help with the drivability.
Wives? Plural? some would say you are a glutton for punishment.

Old guy here... have had many different vehicles. My wife's daily is a 2008 BMW 750Li. A luxury ride that I love to cruise in. I have a JLR 2dr... vastly different. If I'm by myself I jump in the Jeep. If it is a short ride into town we both go in my Jeep. If we/I are going off road... the Jeep rules of course. Embrace it.. it is like no other vehicle I have ever owned!!!

I went from a C7 Corvette to JLU Willys... Talk about polar opposites! As others said you'll get used to it and actually find it entertaining. It definitely has a personality. Around town it's best as ride height, tight turning radius, and squishy-ness makes for fun errand running. On the freeway the wandering is something you don't notice over time. Just keep the tires around 32/34psi and don't go over 75mph.

Maybe I got lucky but I had zero issues with my ā€˜22 before lifting it and doing the steering. Still handles great, tracks pretty damn good except if the road has rutted tracks in it from big rigs but even my wife’s Explorer gets pulled around a bit. No flat spots, no drifting, tracks nice and straight. It’s actually a hair bit more responsive than I’d like when I compare it to my XJ, but that’s if I’m splitting hairs. ?ā€ā™‚

Man I feel you. I went from a 2013 Camaro SS (not stock) to a truck to a Jeep. If I get any slower Ill be riding a bicycle.

Nope. 70 mile round trip drive to work and home every workday. Been driving a Wrangler since 2013 (JKU and now JLUR).

Don’t care about MPG or driving characteristics. It is the most satisfying and fun ride that I have and I have a few choices.

Try driving someone else’s Jeep and compare to see if you get the same result.
this.

Jeep was only bring a smile to your face vehicle without fail. until I bought back into a 10 year old BMW 335 sport. Wow.
