Exactly. We're running the stock 4.10s with 37s and the 8 speed and the transmission is just awesome. You can squeal the tires if you really want to and you can do 80 mph down the freeway, it really is phenomenal.

That's the key right there. The JL is light years ahead of the JK in so many different ways. Until the shops actually spent a lot of time in a JL and start modifying them, they won't understand.

We've got just over 6,000 miles on our JL now, about 5500 of them on the 37s and we'll still say we're learning more about this rig all the time.
How fast can you go with 37s?

I had it up over 90 on the interstate and it wasn't topped out.

Yeah, it's incredible (but not surprising) how much better the Pentastar feels with a modern transmission.

I was a defender of the 3.8L in the early JK, too, even though it was a heavy dog. I always argued the 42RLE and the factory gearing was more of a detriment to the overall powertrain than the engine was. Yeah, it didn't compare to deliciously torquey inline-6, but if your 3.8L wasn't making your oil magically disappear, it really wasn't that bad.

Would adding a decent steering stabilizer help? My concern is a decent 3 inch with 37s. I hope the JL Rubicon can handle it.

Just stay with a 2.5" plenty of lift for 37's under a Rubicon.

Didn't feel like any need for a different stabilizer.

I drove it from Silverdale, WA (Seattle area) all the way to Moab, UT and most of the way back. Mostly interstate and cruising at 70-80mpg (depending on state and speed limit) for the most part.

It really handles good, seriously surprisingly good for a 2.5" boost kit, 37s and nothing else.

Caster is a little shy, so it had that small caster twitch if you know what that is, not horrible like the TJs would get, but it is there. Just need some adjustable arms and a little time on an alignment rack (both coming in the next couple weeks).

Thank you. I’m waiting for Teraflex to release in the next month or so. I ll do the 3” full lift with shocks be safe and I know Teraflex is reliable.

Can this enable DRL on the Sport S since it doesn’t come from the factory with it enabled?

Yes it does ;)
DRL can be set to different lights but there is no On-Off setting available. On the Sport DRL cannot be activated (at least not from my Flashcal updated Sunday). Or am I missing something?

Flashcal F5 JL question --- the manual says not to carry the Flashcal in the Jeep, then is says to return to stock prior to service. This presents a quandary in that the Flashcal should remain at home yet the Jeep may need service hundreds or thousands of miles away. Also "return to stock" is not well defined. is this just the "stock" setting in the Flashcal itself or should the Module also be unplugged and the stock module plugged back in?

I've asked Superchips on their site, I've asked Quadratec on their site, and apparently no one knows their product. My question is, does the MODULE need to be unplugged (and stock module plugged back up) prior to having service performed on the Jeep? Both answers were,"the Flashcal is removed after programming". It's not a JK, it's a JL. The MODULE is what I was asking about.

Also the Flashcal F5 JL manual says not to store the Flashcal in hot or freezing temps. This means by default that it is not supposed to be kept in the Jeep. Since I cannot predict all service needs how can I set the jeep to "stock" prior to service if I'm away from home when service is needed?

So I don't know if the MODULE needs to be removed for service. I don't know what happens if a dealer reflash is done with the module in place. I don't know if the Flashcal will survive in the console until needed. I cannot set DRL to on. I cannot set fog lights to not drop off with high beams since this option is not in he FLashcal list.

I doubt it will be granted but I've asked Quadratec if a return / refund is possible. Assuming a refund is not possible can the Flashcal F5 JL be set back to "stock" and sold to another person to register and use in their Jeep? This is a great tool for people changing tires, gearing, TPMS settings and such but for just a tire size change I'd rather pay the dealer 275 and be done with it.

After programming settings, the module AND tuning device can be removed. The only purpose of the module is to allow you to bypass security and get into the ECU. Once you're done, they are not needed.

Now, on the Tazer JL you have to leave them plugged in if you want to use their "live" features like the light shows, etc. But that's a different animal from the FlashCal that Superchips offers.

As far as service visits, you SHOULD always remove the module and tuner from the vehicle first. Don't let them ever see it. If they see it, that will be a red flag that your ECU has been modified and if your dealer is the type that gives people a hard time you'll have explaining to do for warranty coverages.

I'll give this a try and report back. Thanks!
