  1. 2H to 4H too hard to shift

Pull back toward 4H and if it doesn't go just release and pull again. The second pull goes easier for some reason. Sounds weird, but it works.
  2. Puddle in rear Driver’s footwell

Pull the floor mats and carpet and check the floor drain plug. The floor plug might be the culprit.
  3. Suspension upgrade with minimal to no lift ?

We paid $400 for the Rubi springs and shocks. They had 8 miles on them. Install was another $400. Rubi takeoff tires were $650 for 5. The improved look and ride quality were definitely the money we spent. FWIW, we do the occasional forest road or county dirt road. If we did rocks or mud we'd...
  4. Oil change frequency, dealer told me DO NOT use service required alert?

I stopped worrying about intervals when we got a BMW 3 series many years ago. The non-turbo 6 oil change was recommended at 15,000 miles! BMW went to turbo 4s in 2012 and dropped the recommendation to 10,000 miles. Some Porsche's are at 20,000 mile intervals! I still change our Jeep at 5k, but I...
  5. Oil changes... 5 Year/100,000KM 'free' services

Standard warranty cannot be voided. There are laws to protect against that, but the 5 year program is extended coverage. It is not "warranty" regardless of the name. They can deny coverage for any future failure due to oil, but with OEM oil and filter (keep the receipts!) it is unlikely they...
  6. Super disappointed in tires

Wow, we've been on lots of snow covered roads with KO2s. I can only imagine where we could go with real tires. :) Ok, some useful info, Tire Rack has good comparison charts.
  7. Heated Auto Shifter Knob?

It's weirdly satisfying to know someone actually makes such a thing. :like:
  8. Heated Auto Shifter Knob?

For all of you "don't drive with your hand on the shifter" people, it's not always bad. Especially in an automatic equipped vehicle. Several years ago we had a new BMW 328i and I was driving up a twisty mountain road having fun when, in the middle of a tight right hander, the weight of my hand...
  9. Jumperless Aux Battery Bypass

I removed the aux battery from the top. The Way-of-Life YouTube guy had a great tip, place a towel on the roof and flip the hood all the way back. I have a not so great back so it was far easier for me to lean over the fender than remove it and work from the floor. p.s. I find it easy to just...
  10. Jumperless Aux Battery Bypass

Quandary resolved. I too think the main battery voltage was just too low to make the computer happy. New batteries resolved the issue, but I still wish there had been a low voltage warning or some indication that both batteries were going bad. Can't complain though. The Jeep failed to start in...
  11. Jumperless Aux Battery Bypass

Here's a quandary, we got home today from a motorcycle trip and hopped in the Jeep. No start, dead battery. I pulled F42 and disconnected the aux battery negative cable, then started the Jeep with a jump start booster. I figured we'd drive around and let the main battery charge up. Voltage was...
  12. 13.4 Low Voltage Warning

Just FYI, you are correct when changing two batteries of the same type, same CCA, etc. That's to keep the old battery from drawing down the new one. Since the aux and main batteries on the JL are different I don't think it would matter, plus they don't draw on each other like a dual battery...
  13. Jeep nightmare!

This is VERY indicative of a grounding issue. Check all of the grounds! If that doesn't help, check all the ECU connections for a backed out / loose pin. Sure hope this helps.
  14. I doubt this thing will ever see off-road

I'm surprised no one got this. It's the 2023 Extreme Mall edition. :)
  15. 3 1/2 years of 3.6 ownership

Almost 4 years and 65000 miles. We did a Rubicon spring/shock/tire swap way back in April 2018. The 3.6 gives us consistent 20 to 21 mpg and while a 392 would surely be fun 287 hp ain't bad. :)
  16. Floor mat drain holes

This is from way back on 2018 when we installed the upgraded Jeep mats. I had noticed wet carpet after water crossings or even heavy rain. The fix (from this site but don't remember who recommended it) was to carefully trim the mat drain flush on the bottom, leave the stock drain plugs in the...
  17. Fact: Jeep Wrangler is the least capable vehicle ever

Comfort or fun? Hmmmm, I'll b 65 in 28 days. Screw comfort.
  18. Driving in snow / ice…any tips?

Lots of good advice but I have to throw in one more. Brakes are your enemy! If you are sliding with the brakes on release them in order to steer. (ABS may allow you to steer. Depends on speed.) As mentioned earlier find a place to practice safely. A sloped lot with NO LIGHT POLES is excellent...
  19. NEWBIE GRANDMA can't shift AT ALL from 2H to 4H!! What the...??

What we don't know. The transfer case shifter won't move. Is this won't move back or won't move in any direction? Was there any help from the neighbor? The Jeep is a Sahara so it should be part time transfer case. What is the transfer indicator on the dash saying? Based on 6 pages of reading...
  20. NEWBIE GRANDMA can't shift AT ALL from 2H to 4H!! What the...??

I'm surprised no one mentioned this tip. Works on our 2018 JL every time. Pull back on the lever as if you are going into 4H. Probably it's not going. Now release and immediately pull back again. Bingo, you're in. This works every time on our JL. Hope it works for you as well. And no, don't...
