Not likely, but will say this: the Ecodiesel feels much faster seat-of-the-pants than the stopwatch would indicate. And...doesn't seat-of-the-pants trump the stopwatch for driving enjoyment? The most impressive part is the total lack of drama in doing it.
It's in the ~8 second ballpark for the Rubicon. That's really, really, slow by most measures, especially when compared to the ~mid-5s of a 392. Knock more time off that if you've got the XR 392.

Fortunately it has a crapload of easily-controlled torque and it deals with additional weight very well (other than the stupidly low GVWR), so it's great for rock crawling.

I can assure you most 392 owners (myself included) do not care about the MPG lol

Agreed. Like I said, put the stopwatch away, and go by the butt dyno, and you'll have a ball. Mine (Banks Derringer equipped) is putting out 500+ lbft of torque at less than 2,000 rpms and the thrust is intoxicating. :)

[When I was a kid, I thought it was all about horserpower and 0-60 times. Later in life, I realized low-end torque was much more fun.]

Yup. GDE tune here. Torque is 550 at 1600. If I am in 4hi from a light I can be at 60 in less than 6 sec. Pretty sure that if GM didn't kill the idea of a small diesel in the 70's, they would not be so rare.

No one bought a 392, myself included, with any belief that MPGs were a consideration. It's a blast to drive and its our primary

Nope and in comparison I had a Dodge Ram with a 5.9L back in the late 90s that got 9-11 MPGs...it was rated at 11 to 15 but not even on a good day :) Maybe 250hp? This thing is practically an EV in comparison :)

I'm actually with this guy, though having a diesel Wrangler and getting 21-26 MPG is nice, it's not the reason I bought a diesel.

The actual reason I bought a diesel Wrangler is because in the state of Texas it means you don't have any emissions testing. Safety check only. So I can live my dream and mess with every single aspect of the Jeep, and only have to worry about what meets the safety minimums. ie. Mirrors, seat belts, lights, turn signals, and that's really it I think. There's really not much to the safety check. You can have a check engine light on and airbags disabled and you'll still pass that s***! Got to love Texas!!

Damn guy, you're a BEAST! A real MODERN DAY VIKING!
Love it! Man after my own heart!

We got 22K on my wife Subaru in the first year, but at the time it was also the only vehicle we had. My wife was pissed, and I was like SUPER EXCITED! We got 600 mi on it in the first 5 days, and 2000 mi in the first 14 days. It has 43K miles now and my wife pretty much never drives it. I however go for long drives into the countryside with the Wrangler at least once a week. I want to take the Wrangler on more trips, currently we only take the wife Subaru on trips. That's why I put the soft top back on and am trying to build it up more for a family vehicle, kind of.

Love that you got 32K plus miles in one year, that's just so cool!! ?

I owned a v8 with an extended range tank, I have no desire to own one of those again. It was hella powerful with long tubes, a tune, and exhaust but it guzzled fuel and rapidly depleted the wallet lol. The eco diesel is by far one of my most favorite vehicles to have owned, in between a 2500 DenaliHD and Soarer. I will always try to buy a diesel before anything else.

In the 90s I bought a new Fatboy and had the dealer breathe on it heavily before delivery: Mikuni, Vance & Hines, high compression pistons and a hot cam. It was a beast from a dead stop, but it was peaky for everyday use - meaning not WOT. A few years into ownership (I had it for 20 years) I swapped the cam for one that emphasized low rpm power at the cost of ultimate speed. I was much happier. You use torque 95% of your driving and bhp for only 5%.

 that's so true!!! Don't get me wrong, driving noisy cars sure is fun, but everyone around you hates it.

We got a guy across the street from us two houses down who has a Camaro that I swear is straight piped, and that thing is so obnoxiously loud I can be in the bathroom with the shower running with headphones on and I can still hear it when he starts it.
