Rock slide engineering step sliders are the way to go. Yes, not cheep but they work. My driveway is very steep, wife is 5’ 4” and the Jeep is Liften 3.5 on and 37 in tires. The step sliders make it easy for her to get in and out. I’m 5’ 10” and use them all the time. Makes it easy for me to. Plus they are a great rock slider for the rocky trails.

My wife is 5 foot as well but has no issues with the stock steps on ours. No lift and stock tires. I have added some cloth grab bars to the front door openings but they are not in a good place for her but the stock grabber is perfect. Dad used the cloth grabbers when he rode with me though. He was about 5'-10" so the step and grabber helped him to get in. RIP dad.

I little off subject, but being an old boxer with should pain and back pain, I took up yoga. Not only has that increased my flexibility it has decreased joint pain considerably. I now just practice at home, but I do miss watching those nice looking ladies in yoga pants. 😂

I am in my mid 60s and drive a JLURD. I have knee issues from an old running injury, so my son recommended the rock slide engineering steps. I am so glad we did. A little pricey, but well worth it! You can turn them off when you don’t want them to come down, therefore they don’t cause an issue with your clearance. They have helped me tremendously. He actually installed them for me, saving me the cost. I highly recommend them.!

If you have factory rock slider rails, we have been developing a high quality removable step solution for them over the past several months.

They will be ready to start shipping in the spring and you can find more info in our vendor post here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...review-coming-soon.139752/page-2#post-2973987

Please note, this is our tester prototype and the step and rail are spray painted satin black. The production unit will have the same coating as the factory rail.

For light off-roading the steps can stay on. For moderate use, they can come off with a few quick screws, and the clamps stay on for full factory clearance. For rock crawling where you are banging the rails on rocks, the clamps can come off for totally bare sliders.

When a JL's shared with one perhaps less frequent drive being physically shorter, I'd love to see if I could adapt this. It might sit attached behind the front driver's seat, to be pulled out, and dropped to the left, not right...presumptively that short person having the seat pulled forward enough.

I've got RockHard 4X4 rocker sliders. my 5'0 wife just grabs a handle and gets in. She mentioned her boots and shoes are leaving marks in the paint on the rocker panels. Like rubbing the sarge green in "her" spot. I grabbed a micro fiber cloth, did my best hock tua girl expectoration and it came through pure sarge green. Running 35"s on a stock rubi suspension cuz I got old dogs.

Thanks for all the replies. Turns out there’s a Rock Slide electric step removed from a JLU not too far from me for less than half what they go for new so I’m going to go take a look at it.

It really must come down to mobility issues-clearly for your dad in his 80's...So power steps might be to right option for your needs.

That said, I have Rock Hard 4x4 Angled-up rock sliders and my 5'3" GF (she claims 5'3" 🤣) hops in and out of my lifted JLR-X on 37's like a cat!

I drive my 89 year old father around for all his errands and needs. I put on the RSE steps and it makes a huge difference. I have 35's but would get the RSE steps without hesitation if I had the original 32's to make his entrance easier.

I don't have these myself but considering them...Go Rhino D1 Side Steps. Not auto retracting but they do have a drop step the length of the running board. If losing some breakover angle isn't an issue for your application it may be a good option for the price
