On 3rd dampener, have the same death wobble people on here have. Going in next week to replace the following:

- Track bar
- Longer control arms
- Dampener

All parts being ordered by dealer are rough country and fox. Question - anyone that's FIXED their DW, did any of the above fix it? I mean truly fixed, not masking issues with a dampener for a few weeks.

Trying to manage my expectations going into next week as to whether will actually be fixed or if the above is just a pointless exercise by dealership.

It did for @Kevin8086. Different parts manufacturer though.

I remember seeing a video a while back - anyone remember parts they used? Dealership is doing fox dampener, rough country longer control arms and track bar.

I put on a terra flex falcon steering dampner and have no issues. I went through a few mopar dampeners also.

I'm just worried a better dampener - I.E. fox or falcon will just mask the real issue better but not actually solve it. Original dampener went bad, then the "new part number" dampener went bad with the cold being blamed...

Is your Jeep stock suspension? Lift? Larger tires?

Stock suspension it’s a JLUR. I’m running 35 inch KO2s same load rating etc on mopar wheels non headlock just the vanity ring. Balanced properly as well.

If you’ve checked all your other steering components, steering box( mechanical and software) drag link, track bar, ball joints etc... for abnormal wear or making sure everything is torqued to specs. Tires are properly inflated and balanced, then yes , I believe this will help your situation. Even though people say, if you have your geometry correct you don’t even need a steering stabilizer, and that’s correct, although it won’t be as tight, you can run without it. These new jls do work better with a good stabilizer and they love castor, so if you stretch your adjustable control arms out a bit and put on a good equal force stabilizer you will say goodbye to DW because quite frankly there’s nothing left to fix :).

That should be on the dealer/FCA to fix.

I’m going thru this now.

First and foremost. The steering stabilizer/dampener is not a fix for death wobble. The SS is designed for driver comfort. You should be able to drive without it and not have DW.

Secondly, everyone is still learning about the JL platform. DW is generally something simple like all the examples mentioned. We’re one of the lucky ones that the normal fixes aren’t helping so we’re still working on it. If you didn’t have DW before the lift, it’s generally something to do with the components or installation.

We ordered two sets of the steer smart stuff, one for us and one for a friend of ours. Hopefully I’ll know Thursday if this is the cure for us or if we are to keep looking.

If your DW is gone thanks to a SS, what’s going to happen when the SS fails or wears out? Fix the problem, keep digging and let’s find the root.

I’m having great hope for these parts. I’m not opposed to Redneck ram next but at some point I want to be able to focus on fun stuff again. Ordering my wife a JL tomorrow and it’ll get the full RK treatment and 37s too. I’d be sick if her steering has any issues since it’s for her and my boy.

Currently have the MC 3.5 GC. Going RK on wife’s and more than likely will swap to the RK on mine too. Nothing against MC but want to evaluate both equally. Planning on offering RK for our Jeep shop.
