Updates: 1) Apparently my JL is now “known” at my dealer (as in “Oh, yeah...I heard about that one...”); 2) the service department is recommending the throttle body be replaced; 3) the part is on backorder—they are trying to get it expedited (otherwise it could be 2+ weeks). More to come...

Hi Cap’nemo,
We're glad to see that your dealer is working hard to help find a potential solution to this. We are available via private message if you need any additional assistance during this process.

Hey guys,
So I got these three messages over the last couple of days. Started with the Start/ Stop not working then progressed to shaking and lurching when starting the vehicle. Can you guys confirm ordering the vacuum pump resolved this?

This is same thing happening to my 2019 JLU and got 2700 miles. They ever figure out the problem and how long it take.

Take photos/videos of the issue. The dealership ordered a new throttle control to replace. Total time was two days. Good luck

Just told me mine was bad MAP sensor. I told them about throttle control and acted like was okay. Sure hope this works don’t feel like going back and forth from dealership. Again. This Jeep is already my replacement for my 2018 JLU.

I’d recommend you also contact Jeep (Wave, I think). They opened up a case number for me and will have a tech go over the issue with your dealership. Doesn’t cost you much time to escalate the issue to cover your bases.

Update: mine was a loose wire that only acted up at long stops. At short intervals, it was fine, but at longer lights, it would trip the code. Hopefully, no more issues with the ESS :like:

Exactly which wire are you speaking of? I'm having the same issue.

I honestly don't know :( But the ESS would only malfunction on "long stops" as the tech told me. He said he found a loose wire on the ESS. So, I'd just ask your service tech. Sorry, that probably want much help:bandit:

Update on my 2019 JLU. In June 2019 change Map Sensor and happened few times since had it stall at light so had to take back to dealer and said same thing. Bad MAP sensor. Only took 3 days to fix again. See if get more that 10000 miles out of this one. If that is even the real problem. So annoying.

My 2018 JL has the START/STOP & ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SERVICE MESSAGE issue.

First trip to dealer took 2 days and they replace vacuum line. Problem not fixed!

Second trip to dealer took 1 day and they updated software. Problem not fixed!

So I looked it up, saw the jeep memo, gave it to dealer.

Third trip to dealer and they insist its the ABS module. Even after pointing out memo says not to replace ABS module they still insist it the ABS module.

So the jeep need to stay at the dealer over night awaiting the ABS module.

I expect to get it back today after 2 days in the shop with the new ABS module.

I do not expect it will be fixed but I'll see

Jeep in the shop now 2 days because they can not find the problem. They are opening a STAR case. How long will it take for them to just try the new vacuum pump as advised in the earlier memo.
