They were thinking profits and fearmongering in regards to touting faster oil pressure and flooding of the upper oil system.

Then.....there’s the Schrader valve attachment you have to utilize for draining the oil from the spin-on oil filter.....
It is just adding a nightmare, to a oil change that is already simple.

The 3.6 routinely exceeds 200k miles, even with rudimentary service. The device above is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

100% agree.. FYI.. User name: demarpaint (Frank) is a friend of mine, and has been a member of Bob is the Oil Guy Forum, for many years. He has now joined this Forum. He is a real expert on oils.
I never joined. I learn a lot from lurking though. Lot's of post from tribologists, engineers and master technicians. I just read and learn. Never knew what a TBN was or what all exactly was yielded during the refining process before BITOG. But without crude oil and all that is derived from it, we would be set back 150 years.

The Chrysler 3.6 is the single most common engine our shop replaces. Obviously selection bias is at play here, as it is also the most common engine on the road. The thing is, most engines fail due to abuse. Anyone who cares enough to install one of these is unlikely to abuse it, and won’t have problems anyway. With the weak valve train though, it couldn’t hurt.

I do not like the design of the spin-on adapter as described in the link........But, the future remote option looks interesting. However, it would be great if someone came out with a billet aluminum filter housing for the 2018 to present Jeep Wrangler 3.6L

Yep, it seems like I have been in Jeep forums forever. I have also learned a lot from Bob is the oil Guy Forum. It is a good go to Forum, for the correct oil answers when these oil thread wars start. This Forum does a good job of keeping most topics in line, without causing flamers. But some of the other Forum, let’s just say it gets brutal.

I'd go just full on, three stage dry sump for the Jeep. A Weaver pump and a Peterson tank that holds at least 10 quarts. I'd also just wire the fuel pump where you can shut it off and crank the engine for 10 seconds and watch a manual oil pressure gauge to see the pressure go up before firing up the motor. There are probably a few other over the top items we could get for that motor too. Maybe an ATI harmonic balancer and CP forged pistons.

Just start in flood mode as often as you can. Hold the gas pedal to the floor as you push the brake pedal and start button. Release the gas pedal after a few seconds.

For those interested, I found this which details the oil system on the 3.6L Pentastar.

Of particular interest is this slide that shows the oil filter in the housing and indicates a drain port in the filter housing.

While there is no anti-drain back valve in the filter itself (never been a point of argument for me), the filter does serve as some what of an ADBV with its o-ring on the bottom tip of the filter.

There are two things that are almost certain:

1. After all of the oil has drained, if you pull the filter, more oil will drain out indicating the oil is being prevented from fully draining back into the pan.

2. The main oil galleries remain full of oil and I will opine this is where the additional oil comes from when you pull the filter. If the oil galleries did not remain full of oil, there would be measurable and substantial wear on the crankshaft journals and likely piston skirts since those are the first things lubricated when the engine is started. It is the o-ring at the bottom of the filter that "seals" and prevents the oil from fully returning to the pan.

Thought that sounded familiar.......
Sorry about that. I must have skimmed past what you wrote. I’d have just given to a like, or credit in my post if I’d been a more thorough reader. I guess I have late onset ADHD.
