So I'm changing the oil and the oil filter tip broke off and there might be a plastic piece inside. Should I be worried about it ? I was pulling out the filter and the tip just snapped off its sitting in there still. There are four prongs on the tip and one is missing.

You have to fish that out. If you can’t get it with needle nose pliers or tweezers, they sell these in the plumbing aisle for grabbing gunk inside of drain pipes. Probably also have them at Autozone, etc.

Ouch, do you know who made that filter that broke?

You didn't follow the advice of message #3 about wiping it down with a paper towel. If you had, you would have discovered that fourth prong clinging to the side, under a coating of oil.

Even if that soft piece of plastic fell in the engine, it would be okay. Also interested in knowing what brand of filter it was.

Was it a mopar? Fram? Mobil1? I wonder which one to avoid in the future, and maybe there's something they can do from a warranty perspective.
looks like a FRAM Titanium, with the red o ring on the top. May be wrong.

You need to fish that missing piece out, before it makes its way into the engine, and possibly causes damage. Juuuuust Saying.

I'm not a fram expert here, but looking at the picture on walmart, the new one has the black o-ring. The one that broke has an orange o-ring.

Looking at some other pictures online, I think mwilk02 was correct in saying that it's a fram titanium, FS11665.

Looking at this though, I think I'll stick with mopar filters. I always hear bad things about aftermarket filters, but haven't heard much about OEM filters.
