Speed Limiter Removed

Entering the turnpike I realized that my 392 would not go over 95 mph. Had it removed and Stage One upgrade added. Not for everyone for sure, and will have track results soon. Added 50 hp and with a Borla exhaust system it sounds awesome. Livernois Motorsports for the tune.

Dang… how’s it feel at those speeds? Never had the desire to drive my JL over 80! I’m assuming the longer wheelbase would help your 392 feel more planted than my two door…

Not going to advocate, (nor criticize) driving your 392 at that speed, cuz to each their own. But at least make sure whatever tire your running is rated for speeds above 99+. A blowout in a Jeep at that speed would be catastrophic. ?

You got me curious so I checked DiscountTire. Surprisingly, a bunch of AT tires, including KO2s, are speed rating “S” so good to 112 mph.

I once got my 3.6 on 37s with the HikeIt up to 97 mph. Felt stable even with the Patagonias. Would not repeat.

Well that is a C load tire if you want 112, the others are around 106mph which I wouldn't take as accurate for tires with actual mileage on them. Point being, it isn't the software that is limiting speed.

I’ve got mine up to 115+ on ridge grapplers a handful of times without any issues and very stable on a straight shot.

I've gotten my '21 Sahara Altitude (on Rubicon KO2 takeoffs) around 105mph a handful of times - usually just short bursts, to pass someone or something. Nothing sustained.

As others have noted, driving a Jeep that fast is ... not super fun.

50hp is a meaningful gain. Is that 50hp over peak or 50 better in the lower rpm range?

Any chance you have stock and post upgrade dyno #s.

Some extra sticky mickey Baja pro’s ….bro idk….racing slicks …Im not trying to do a Mach-4 anywhere in a jeep . I’ve been ejected outta my jlu during a rollover coming back to nv from a boh trail in Oregon doing 70…helicopter transported….dude I avoided the head on collision fled the scene…my back is all jacked up…torn pec….jacked up knees and concussions….i shouldn’t be here….lol…..I wouldn’t recommend dabbling with speed limiters

This rig was on a 3.5” lift….my girlfriend rode the rollercoaster from start to finish(upside down in a ditch)….she saw me hit my head on my door…go unconscious….hit my seat belt buckle…and fighter pilot eject out my soft top (probably looked like a bearded salmon flopping around in the air)….

I would not speed in these things.

I have absolutely no reason to be doing anything over 80(that’s the highest speed limit I’ve seen on the highways I’ve been on)

im all for a v8 swap and what not…but let typical jap bikes, clapped out chargers/mustangs, etc be the organ donors and your jeep all rugged
