I am looking to put 37x12.50R17 on my soon to be arriving JL... but I'm not sure what to do for the spare with steel bumpers. There are a number of relocation brackets to give more clearance for the bumper. But they are all over the place in design, price, and how much up & out they move the tire...

Here's what I've found so far:

Rancho looks good, but there's some question about the strength of the door even with the magnesium casting inside. I'm unsure, but I DO like this Rancho, EXCEPT the rubber bumpers that hold the tire steady would have to be extended. Still:

I run the RC with my 37and it’s great. By far the easiest to install and the least expensive.

Hey @OnlyOne - hate to bump an old thread, but curious if you're still rocking the RC relo bracket with your 37s. Did you end up doing the Mopar reinforcement kit?

If so, did the RC relo fit with the reinforcement kit, or did you have to modify one to get them to work together?
If you did not do the reinforcement kit, how is your tailgate doing with the 37s on it?

Although the RC bracket is a great piece, I am running nothing now. The tailgate doesn’t need the reinforcement kit. It doesn’t even know the tire is on it. I also removed my rear bumper. It’s nice and tight and works great without anything.

How long have you been running it without any kit? I was going to buy the reinforcement kit but I don’t want to spend what Mopar is asking for.

Does anyone who has done the Mopar bracket have photo's? The Rough Country seems what most people are picking... I am trying to understand why one would pay 3x for the Mopar? Can someone with a Mopar share pic's of what the bracket looks like?

The Rough Country has an open top, but closed bottom... is anyone else worried about junk falling in there and getting stuck? Then it causing rust and decay over years...???

The Go Rhino one looks very interesting... it has CB mount and more to it. But it pushes the tire way out and up compared to the others... maybe excessively for 37's?

I'm running the Mopar kit, not just the relocation bracket. Reasons for selecting the Mopar kit include the fact that I needed the weight reinforcement with my setup, and there was limited to no availability of anything else at the time. I paid nowhere near retail, so my kit was only slightly more than other reinforcement kits. The relocation kit pricing for various brands continues to improve, and that's because of the increased competition and availaiblity.

Another reason the Mopar kit is an interesting buy, relates to the fact that it is expandable. Meaning, it comes with additional plates to accommodate wider tire sizes in the future. I don't know if the other kits include these plates, and I realize it's not a huge selling point, it was just nice to know that getting this kit offered flexibility on the original install and beyond.

That's just my perspective, which in no way makes it correct or right for anyone else.

I found the install guide for the Mopar brackets, see below pic... they are just simple metal plates! This seems like INSANITY for what Mopar is charging for this. It also looks like the Mopar tailgate reinforcement kit won't work with any 3rd party spacer bracket :(

I can't disagree, especially with the options available now. While I assume other carrier extensions would fit the Mopar reinforcement bracket, I can't confirm that's the case.

Having no other available options, and not knowing if the reinforcment bracket was proprietary, drove my decision.

I’ve also went with the Smittybilt, for 35s on my Sahara. Yet to receive the Sahara though, so the SB is sitting in the unopened box.

I went with SB because I know it is compatible with the Mopar hinges if I decide to do those later. The RC bracket has to be grinded down (revision is coming that does not require this, but not out yet).

That said... I wonder if the park sense beeping is unique to the SB bracket? If so, I’d return mine.

Anyone have the SB option and no beeping from park sense?
