Unless you're sticking to city streets with an AAA roadside assistance membership, why would you venture off-road without a spare?
And if the tire isn’t repairable and the shop AAA towed it to doesn’t have a match it becomes “Difficult” and/or expensive. Trust me, I know.

Wow! From what I am reading in the comments...is the spare tire delete joining the angry grill family in popularity?
Pretty much, it seems. I originally took mine off due to garage fitment, but then built a bigger garage.

Most people delete for aesthetics, or not being able to afford a 5th tire/wheel combo. It doesnt save much weight, no spare or way out in certain situations, rear impacts can be worse, Looks neutered, have to load up a spare if you go to discount for a 5 tire balance/rotation, have to spend money to look like you have none makes sense. IDK. Not my cup of tea, but, enjoy your Wrangler I guess.

If you don’t have a spare, get this.

You can't go wrong with any top notch company. Cavfab, LOD, Motobilt, Rustys, to name a few. Also, it's important to have an extensive tire repair kit and onboard air to avoid either being a pain in someone else's ass or having to ride the flat back to pavement and mangling a wheel in the process.

I personally prefer having a spare at all times. I reinforcement my tailgate and it's hinges to properly support it, and I have a repair kit and onboard air, which gives me options.

I go so far as to carry a full size spare in my daily driver sedan. After never needing it, I lost a sidewall while on a day trip 200 miles from home late on a Saturday afternoon. Rather than panic to find an open shop with a spare tire (and figure out how to get there), or be stuck the night, I swapped on my spare and drove on the highway home like nothing happened.

Flat on country road,(Lincoln), Call AAA, long wait, little spare blew with inflation, tire unrepairable, extra cost long tow to the nearest shop, no match. Either a used one and find a match later or all new . 4 new, used one old for full size spare since they had wear, but a good years worth left. I got the tow pkg on my GC party due to it’s the only way to get a full size spare although it will never tow. Edit- There are areas in my commute with no cell service, also second long wait for tow when the repair van couldn’t fix, lesson learned.

Most vehicles don’t even come with spares any more and instead have tire patch kits, so the idea is pretty normal.

Dying to understand why delete is now the term for removing something. I don‘t see this in any other hobby or industry. How and why do people in the car world say “spare tire delete” rather than spare tire removal or remove spare tire. Purely curious from a linguistic standpoint I really couldn’t care less just noticed the word delete popped up in the car world maybe five years ago.

rear seat delete, muffler delete, etc. How and why did “remove” or “ removal” get replaced? Hmmm.

You know what really bothers me? All the people on here who say things like "The battery needs replaced." It's "needs TO BE replaced." Drives me bonkers.
