My spontaneous night run was cut a little short. Too many things seemed to be going wrong. My passenger mirror got awfully close to a tree. ( I forgot to pull them in) I took a light hit on the frame or rail. (I haven't looked at it yet) Then I realized I was a little low on fuel and I decided I was done for the night. A tight turn around put me closer to the edge than I'd prefer. Shortly off the trail out of nowhere I saw a flash of antlers across my hood. (I generally don't swerve when it comes to deer, I know swerving is a mistake. I'm not perfect OK!) I braked hard and did a slight turn to the right to avoid hitting the deer. I ended up just off the road on a small mound. I was driving slow between 15-17 mph. I got out to assess any damage. I saw some evidence that I made contact with the deer. I believe I just grazed him. I didn't notice any damage. I took a few photos for the forum (proof) I haven't been off road in quite a while, I felt that a night run was more challenging for me this time.

Happy trails friends.

I've found that when you get that odd feeling that things are off and there is bad juju around you, LISTEN TO THAT FEELING even if it feels crazy and makes zero logical sense.
It's why I was not up in the WTC towers on 9/11 when I should have been.

I say that was a good call that should not be regretted!
Did you charge that deer for the shave and a haircut?

On the way up I hit what I call an (FU rock) that slammed the driver's rear down hard, I thought I may have blown out the shock. I couldn't believe it, I hit the same damn rock on the way down, passenger rear. That little voice was definitely telling me to call it quits. Nothing was going right.

It was a close shave on that deer. ( no charge) In a split second there were antlers right in front of my hood. It scared the daylights out of me.

The decision you made on 9/11 was the best decision of your life my friend. 🙏

John, as long as you weren’t out there whistling in the dark and hearing strange voices call your name in the middle of the Appalachian night, I would say you did pretty good, my friend.😁

That’s how I felt when I tried to replace my diverter valve on my MY24 2.0 and it was such a pain to get to… I should’ve listened to the voice in my head. Next thing I know a socket was gone into the abyss of the engine compartment, never to be found or seen again, waiting to cause havoc on a day I least expect it.

Jokes aside, it takes wisdom to know when to stop and turn around. Kudos to you!

Worse… a 3/8 drive 5/16 hex bit socket attached to a small 3/8 extension. I just heard the “clunk” and knew that wasn’t the floor or skid plate. It fell between the turbo and engine block and I dug around for an hour with all kinds of flashlights and magnetic retrievers. I’m still scared shitless it’s somewhere too close to pulleys and belts… and one day will murder me while driving. Tiny engine yet plenty of spots to hide from you.

Night run are fun, especially when you are looking for to be by yourself but can be dangerous also.
Good to see you have remember to stop before it is no longer fun.

Always follow the rule of 3. 3 things wrong or 3 creeper feelings and it’s time to turn around and head home.

Crazy idea. I had dropped a bolt when I was taking something off up top of the engine and it was about the same size as the tool you’re talking about. It fell and there was no sound of it hitting anything. I looked and looked and looked to no avail. So I did the same thing and just called it what it was. Forgot about it and decided to look for it and happen to find it in the frame. I’m not sure how it got there. I’ll take a picture of the location
