I’m curious where the OP got the 45% figure. Even my 6-year old JL isn’t at that. Unless he’s basing that on some shady dealer’s offer he got locally.

And a “divorce” when everything is going fine??? Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

It's also a 4xe, so by the time you work in the government grease the tax payers were forced to pay, and other discounts etc things would look a lot brighter than the picture painted.

People hoping to double dip on the taxpayers is always expected, at least trees were saved, the planet got a little cooler, or warmer, not sure where the green pendulum is swinging, no Sharknado touched down since the 4xe, so that's a good thing.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. The OP is claiming that a used 2023 Wrangler is selling for 45% of new price? That’s what I gathered from his comment. I will not very respectfully suggest that he is delusional.

I bought a 2013 JKUR new a little over a decade ago. I drove it for 5 years and then passed it onto my son who drove it another 5. It has nearly 100k pretty trouble-free miles on it. It’s totally stock except for upgraded bumpers and rock sliders which I put on it early. He decided that he wants a Bronco (yeah, I know, but another topic) and got 65% of what I paid for it new.

So no, I won’t sell my 23 JLR for 45 or 65 or 85% of what I paid for it. And I predict that it will still be a good rig a decade from now too.

Never understood these kinds of posts.

“Jeeps are terrible! But hey, you guys have a great life in your Jeeps!”

The “suckers” at the end is silent.
someone told them " its kewlll ... you should buy one owww my gawwddd" , not for "them"

I bought my '22 2dr Willys strictly as a 3rd (toy) vehicle. My first Jeep since my CJ-7's back in the 90's. I can sympathize with the OP to some degree, even though my JL has been flawless, and puts a smile on my face.

OP, maybe consider finding a nice TJ!
That actually crosses my mind too - Get out from under this overly complex computer on wheels, and get back into something with much more essence of "Jeep"....
Something that the JL has somewhat lost (IMO).

To each his own. Good luck OP! ?

I just don't see why people swap cars out so quickly. My last Jeep I had 8 years exactly. My last commuter car 12 years.

My neighbor has a new car every 18-24 months and I wonder over the last 20 years how much money he has paid. Just in sales tax I would be a long way ahead, let alone depreciation.

Edit: I did the calculations for my neighbor for the last 12 years. New Lexus every 36 months (I think it was actually 24 months or less) over 12 years vs the $20k Honda I had. Me: $25k out the door, $2100 per year. Them: $4.5k at signing, $950 month lease = $136k, $11.4k per year. With inflation my $25k would be $38k in 2024 dollars and their $136k is already in 2024 dollars, so about $100,000 over 12 years. And my Honda still had a 5 star crash rating, navi, traffic, BT etc and also was both faster and got better gas mileage. Only time it ever saw a dealer was to get the Takata airbag replaced.

...The value of this JaLopy is much more than its blue book amount. The utility and fun factor is hard to quantify...

I have never owned a car without issues, well one didnt have issue ('08 Nissan Murano) but I traded it for a F150 in about 2 years. The 150 had some but not a whole lot of issues.

Next was a Cadillac escalade that spent more time in the dealer service department than my garage.

currently own:
'19 RAM - no issues till this year when there was a weird noise from the steering column. They changed the coil spring or whatever under extended warranty.

'21 4Xe - leaking freedom panel

If it has moving parts, it will have issues and that includes human beings made by the big dude.
I've owned 3 GM pickups in a row without any issues requiring a trip to the dealer. Yeah, I have done some piddling on maintenance issues/wear items. But, I can't recall anything that was a quality or design issue, in what amounts to about 400k miles in those 3 trucks.

Stellantis closed on the FCA merger in 2021. Having been a part of large scale company integration, the probability that Stellantis is having a material impact on quality and supply chains that is completely eroding the brand is unlikely, at best. Glad you were able to recoup some coin if you're not happy with it.

Corrosiongate? Believe rust on the Jeeps is a well known issue which is why so many Fluid Film threads proliferate. Maybe there is a new "gate" I am missing.

I'm with ya on that. I get on average, 10 years out of vehicles that I buy. Not into financing vehicles either. I just don't know if this JL will be one in my 10yr plan....

I do...and I can't see how anyone here can't. Stellantis is a garbage company that bought a great name and really cool products and are now treating them as a money fountain. They don't care at all. Once they have driven the brand into the ground and the money stops flowing they'll sell it off and move on.

And there are "suckers" here...those who believe the hype and really think they've got a top notch product at a great value. There are many of us who knew exactly what we were getting into with a JL...but even more who are clueless.
I understand your perspective but I respectfully disagree with some of your statements.

There are very few vehicles that can be utilized the way a jeep can from the factory and drive without any issues after you have maxed out its capabilities.

I feel like I have a top notch vehicle, as in it has been used very hard on the trail and always brought me home in comfort. I enjoy every minute driving it on and off the highway and I don’t think I ever walked away from it without turning back to look at it. It has by far been the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.

I don't know if it's just more common these days or if I'm noticing it more. My family just drove our cars until they didn't drive anymore. My first car was a Saturn I drove through high school, then college, then out to the west coast for a couple more years until it finally died on the 405. I think all in I had it for 12 years.

Fluid Film can't do anything about galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. They now supposedly use a zinc plate between the steel door hinges and the aluminum doors but didn't used to so it's possible to have corrosion there. Same deal with the hood. The tailgate is or was at least magnesium which is also susceptible to galvanic corrosion. Galvanic corrosion is not preventable with standard corrosion prevention treatments. The only way to stop it completely is to make sure the two dissimilar metals never make contact with each other. Ions and neutrons and all that jazz can't be allowed to migrate from one metal to the other basically.
