Around 8” so far today - nice for VA. Anyone else sledding around in their Jeep?

I'm further south in NC so it hasn't been cold enough for it to stick to roads much here in East Bend. Lots of snow sticking everywhere else. Probably about 2 inches here.

This is my first winter with my Sport... I still have the basic Highway Tires and Steel Wheels on. I did buy a take off set of alloys and all terrains (Goodyears) and from what I've heard, they're not great on ice... I'm not concerned about snow or rain... most tires these days can handle that... it's the ice I'm worried about.

Anyway, we got our first snowstorm the other day... I get all excited. I leave it in 2WD, turn the traction control off, (I did spring for the limited slip differential), hit the gas and tried to make it slide... fucker didn't budge...

My Tiguan before this was a ton of fun in the snow... it had what was basically *on demand* AWD, but 90% off the power went to the front tires in normal conditions... and as much as 95% temporarily to the rear when it sense slippage. I had winter tires as well, and the thing was a beast in the snow... a snowstorm felt like a slight drizzle... but I could spin the rear out like a RWD car and then it would always catch itself before anything bad could happen... controlled sliding basically.

I'm happy that I can pretty much leave the Jeep in 2WD and not have to worry about buying a set of winter tires... but I'll miss the sliding around.

Easily 10" here, very wet and heavy. I need to shovel soon, as I think it has finally stopped. Plus the power isn't flickering anymore, so that's always a good sign.

Not sure how the Rubi does in the snow. Guess I'll find out soon. :like:

I tried... I really tried, but to no avail on my way in to work this morning. Biggest problem was not being able to see through the heavy, wet snow falling and 25 mph winds. Looked like I was going into hyperspace the way the snow reflected off my lights and blew straight at my windshield (until I turned the headlights off and went with fogs only.) Was so excited to get the new Jeep out into its first snow. Never even put it in 4WD. It just went. straight ahead, like nothing would slow it down.

Peace of mind is a nice thing to have in this area!

Michelins and steelies here, also; no LSD though. A bit too much slippiness on this February day convinced me to go all in for some proper winter footwear.

We got about 10", fun driving around in the Jeep and shockingly the MTs did fine in the snow.

Hard to believe it was in the 60s yesterday. Just made a path for the poor souls on the top level of my parking garage. Played with 4H open and 2H rear locked (tazer).

I did read the reviews and ratings of the Michelins and it seemed encouraging enough to try them.

I live in downtown Milwaukee, right off the interstate. My job is 11 miles away, also just off the interstate... and they do a good job of keeping the highways around here (and Northern IL, where I'm from) in good driving conditions in winter.

Most of my commute is pretty flat. There are some hills at street level, which is why I was concerned mostly about ice.

I do want to run all terrains most of the year, but I was hoping the Michelins could be quasi-winters. So far, so good!

Did you try and hold the traction control button while sitting still to turn off stability control? I have for sure drifted in 2wd in the snow lol.
