Carlton, did your JK's have limited slip? what do you think accounts for the difference in traction? Also what do you think made the Ram so much better?
They did not. I am not certain what is causing the difference in traction between the JK and JL. Both had the same tires so that wasn't a factor.

I'm assuming the RAM's 4x4 system coupled with the weight and width of the truck. It was very stable, sure footed, and zero slippage.

I've had several Rams, and would agree they do great in the snow with 1 caveat. You must ditch the stock street tires. It doesn't matter if you add an AT, or MT. As long as you have a tire with some deep enough treads to clear the snow. Once you do that, you've got a winner. Personally I think a lot of it had to do with the weight. Those trucks are heavy.
That said, my JL handles great in the snow, and that's WITH stock tires. Granted my stock tires aren't all season radials, or highway tires like they put on trucks so that's probably part of it. But the point is the Jeep is good off the lot. The Ram is great once you change the tires, but an ice skate until then.

Just got my 2018 JLU this year...no snow yet...came from 2 decades of subarus...My jeep is a manual...goosing the throttle on wet roads (intentionally) makes me smile, as the subarus would just accelerate. Should I plan on adding weight to the rear as the snow season comes up?

If you are sliding around enough to put weight in the rear, just put it in 4wd and the problem will be solved. Besides, that tail happiness is fun in the snow!

The traction control is pretty aggressive, especially if you are running the stock tire size. Otherwise, you could throw a couple bags of water softener salt back there and I'm sure it would help a little.

I feel bad for you guys out there in Indiana ( and Illinois), early snow! I am super happy I don't have to deal with ice and snow yet. You guys seem to always get more than us anyway. I spent 4 years out there and still go once a year for homecoming. Boiler Up! My KO2's are not good in wet. I am a little worried about ice and snow. I have had Duratracs on two different vehicles and may switch.

Washing off salt is about the only time I really wash my vehicles. I keep with the silver so it doesn't show as much dirt, as long it is uniformly dirty :). I have to keep the inside clean, since that's where I reside.. Heading to Tucson for a week...may have some snow and ice here when I return...fingers crossed...I need to get out and play. With the subarus, I always had to be the first guy out making tracks through the neighborhood...don't see why that will change now, especially with the extra clearance...I won't have to shovel first...just heat and roll...
