I am okay with the harder trails being a badge trail as I am okay with an easy trail being a badge trail. What I don't like is a trail that is not a trail. Like Table Mesa was a dirt road that you could drive 60 mph on with a mini van. The only saving grace was there was easily a months worth of good off roading in the area. Or a trail like Peters Mill run. Once again doable with a mini van and not really a trail. Nothing in the area that was making up for it. Well maybe the good Mexican restaurant in the near by town.
Pretty sure they did dump Table Mesa off the BoH list. If you are ever near Peter's Mill again for whatever reason, go to the "Southern Kitchen" in New Market. It has been around since 1955. Great Sounthern classics.

Where as Peters Mill Run is like this.

It is one thing to be a crappy trail surrounded by thousands of miles of trails vs a crappy trail with a couple other trails around it. With that said, this is one of the reasons I point my Jeep west to go wheeling instead of east.

West is definitely best.

My favorite campsites are just off US-33 and I was down there for some campfire therapy last week. Wish I'd known about it!

If you go in the future, their fried chicken, country ham, and stewed tomatoes are great.

Had me at Fried Chicken. Up where I am, it's near impossible to find nowadays outside of diners, and even the best ones don't really do it right. Everybody today wants hot/spicy "burn-your-mouth" style, rather than classic savory southern fried style.

Do you have Royal Farms near your part of NJ? They are based out of Maryland. It's a combination gas station, convenience store, and fried chicken place. Pretty dang good fried chicken. Some people see it and think it must be "gas station chicken". It actually started as a chicken farm, so it's historically a chicken place that now sells gas and convenience items. Worth a try.

I think for Beasley Knob in GA you don't have to do a particular trail to qualify as BoH. Like Gulches in SC, it is open as to what you choose to run. As far as I know, those are at least a couple places (Beasley and Gulches) tnat don't name a particular trail as the BoH trail. They seem like "Jeeper's choice." Pick any, and qualify for a badge. Others, such as Dickey Bell #91 or Windrock #26, for example, even have the numbers on the physical badges. No numbers on the Beasley or Gulches badges.

Also noteworthy is that the most difficult trail is not necessarilty the BoH trail. Off the top of my head, at Uwharrie, the "Daniel" trail is more difficult than "Dickey Bell", but Dickey Bell is the BoH trail.
Daniel is way more difficult because the front side can do major body damage...20 years ago stock Isuzu's ran all over ure.

Dickey bell "proper" was impassable for us on 35 and 37s aired down.

It was damp and the bowl of rocks was like skating in a metal bowl with blocks of ice.

We had to take the bypass. Next day a ton truck broke front end or? Was jacked up in the bowl...bypass again.

Below top of Daniel...25th anniversary picture. In 2000 it was Isuzu's in the picture.

Old friend as I helped winch him back over on the Dickey Bell bypass in October 25?

No Royal Farms near us unfortunately. But some of the best fried bird parts I ever had was right after running Big Levels (Bald Mountain Jeep Trail). It was a gas station that also had barbecue as well as chicken. I can't find the route I took after I did the trail, but I'm pretty sure the gas station was somewhere near the town of Vesuvius, a bit before getting on 81 North. Amazing.

We used to live in VA. Gas stations out in the Shenandoah Valley region were notorious for their good fried chicken. Several of them started out as general stores / mercantiles that had a diner counter. Several added the gas sales in more recent decades.
