Security bypass cable question

So I finally got around to getting a security bypass cable so I could set the proper tire size in my 22 4xe with JScan. My question is, is the security module used for anything other than securing the OBD-II port?

It's kind of a pain with a bracket in there, so I thought about just leaving the bypass cable in there but wasn't sure what that might affect or do to the Jeep day to day

If you take it in for service you will need to hook it back up, otherwise no problem.

I put my security bypass cable in two years ago and I have never had an issue with the Jeep dealer. I 100% leave it in there and hooked up.

My SGW Extension remains, connected to a Tazer but Jscan goes with a 12+8 cable (doesn't it?) that needs to get removed and the factory 12 and 8 pin plugs replugged in after, no?

No argument here, *if* the O.P's using an SGW Extension cable, typically with a Tazer JL.

But I think he's using a 12+8 Security Bypass with an ODB 2 Wifi reader for JScan.

Here is my basic and maybe incorrect understanding. The Z automotive SGW extension cables do not need to plug into the Tazer. They are there as an extension cord for when the Tazer is removed and the OEM wiring harnesses need to be plugged back in. I attach an ECRI module into the security gateway OEM connectors with a Bluetooth module in the OBD port. Once I’m done with JSCAn programming, the Tazer plugs into these same OEM connectors and stays plugged in after I’m done. The Z automotive extension harness only gets plugged back into the factory connectors when going to the dealer with the Tazer and JSCAN removed from the vehicle. I’m sure my wording and descriptions are not as clear as what I linked from @Rhinebeck01

Ok these two connectors in the picture are unplugged and plug into the Tazer. If I use JSCAN I plug the two connectors into the ECRI module and the JSCAN bluetooth adapter into the OBD port. Are you saying with the two OEM connectors plugged into the Tazer, the ECRI module that the OEM connectors plug into is unnecessary?

Yes, the ECRI is unnecessary; your Tazer already allows you to use JScan via a Bluetooth adapter in the OBD-II port.

Doesn't the ECRI have other features though?
