So coming from a JK it is extremely annoying not being able to plug directly to the OBD port to make changes. Such a first-world problem, but taking off the trim and contorting my hand to plug and unplug that cable and having to remember to take it off at the dealer is just a headache I would like to avoid if possible.
Is there any cable or mod possible that puts a permanent bypass in place so I can plug directly to the OBD and if so can I leave it installed without the dealer knowing??

IDK of any permanent. I leave the extension cables in place 100% of time, just reconnect inline to the factory wiring and the OBD is active. Unless the service tech is looking under there it has not been an issue. Tuck them up nicely. BTW "be Friend the ser mgr and some techs at the dealership.

What are you going back to the dealership for? Are you getting that much warranty work done on it?

Unfortunately yes. My electronics have been f-ed up since i got it. I have the larger touch screen and I've been back and forth a dozen times in the month of owning this thing

Just get the extension cables and have bloody knuckles only once. You really don't want anything messing with electronics while they're trying to diagnose the electronic issues.

You may also want to make a separate post describing what's going on with display as well. There are a lot of smart dudes mixed in with the morons in here. ;)

The dealer is going to expect to see (and unlock) the SGW when they hook up to it. I don't know what their diagnostic tool will do if it cannot communicate with the SGW. It may let them skip that step or it may not let them go further.

A Tazer or an ECRI bypass will let you use the OBD port properly, though some higher-end tools expect to see the SGW and want/need to go through AutoAuth to unlock it. I have an Autel BT something or another that will not let me go past that step. It is useless because I am refusing to play along with that BS. I have an Icon T10 that lets me skip the unlock process (for now anyway, but possible it will get locked down in a future update) but I wonder if I am getting full functionality. JScan works fine.

An alternative is to connect a bypass cable and leave it there with the OBD end somewhere accessible. Reach under the dash when necessary and hook up to the OBD port on the cable.

I put an extension cable on the SGW so I can hook it up if necessary. I have a Tazer, for reasons other than just using the OBD port. I can easily remove the Tazer and hook the SGW up without having to remove the dash panel.

Theres a company called ZFlash that uses a permanent bypass with their ZFlash module. Don't know if they sell the bypass by itself. Bunch of us on our Volunteer Fire Dept use their stuff. They always send the correct bypass when we order.

2025 Willys, hooked up OBD MX+ and connected to Iphone wifi without any SGW bypass harness, ended up read only, which I figured it would. I've seen several different cables for this being sold and seems some look different.

I bought the Tazer SGW harness, if I plug that in as instructed by Tazer, I will be able to read/write and change settings using JScan?

I have a similar set up in my '21, bought an extension cable from amazon and connected OBD MX+ to the SWG, and I can read /write with JSCAN just fine. havent tried the same set up in my '26 since I went with Tazer

@WannFly Got a link for the cable you bought?

The Tazer cable will not plug into the OBD MX+, so install the SGW cable and then plug the ODBMX+ into the OBD port or?
