Hi all,

Does anybody have any idea what this is? I’m putting an extension on the security bypass for the JScan I have coming tomorrow for a bit of a road trip on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, I think the previous owner kept the module that makes it work.

One more question. I’ve only dealt with AEV procals in the past. Never used a JScan. Do I just leave this extension plugged in and it takes the place of the security bypass cables being plugged into their normal spot?

There’s not a module with it, that’s all of it. It just remembers what your last selection of the Stop/start button was on restart. As to the 12+8 cable you can leave it as is or plug the SGM back in.

I use SGW extension cables so the disconnect point is above the brake pedal. I only use the JScan adapter when using JScan. My hands don’t fit where the cables connect to the SGW, so it was usually a bloody experience when disconnecting the cables. I really hate the SGW design and placement. I was considering an AEV Procal if the wiring results in a fully functional OBD2 port.

my understanding is the way the procal harness works you are limited to basically do only what the procal allows. for my uses that is all i need but I know others like to use taser or jscan etc to open more things up.

Mumbly,

Sorry for the slight thread hi-jack, but I have a question about cables mentioned above.

Gregj,

Does the Auto Stop Eliminator use the same connection points as SGW cables and Tazer?

I have the Auto Stop Eliminator and love it. I installed it some time ago.

Instead of using AEV Procal, I plan to use SGW cables and Tazer mini to adjust my speedometer and tire pressure settings. I'm concerned I may have to choose between Auto Stop or speedometer calibration.

I believe you have to unplug the Auto Stop to use the Tazer, if you are just changing tire size and pressure the Tazer doesn’t have to stay installed, those settings are one time changes and you can unplug the Tazer and reinstall the Auto Stop. If you plan on using the Live functions of the Tazer it has to stay plugged in.

I believe the Tazer can do the auto stop setting management if you leave it installed so you have a choice in how to proceed.

What I'm trying to figure out is if the AEV Procal harness allows full OBDII functionality. Their harness runs from the green Star block behind the glovebox to four pin positions on the OBDII port. The Procal uses OBDII port and new configuration to bypass the SGW and allow programming of the two features. So, the $225 (plus tax and shipping) question is if an OBDII dongle with JScan could use the modified OBDII in a similar way.

no I don't believe so from what I have been told it only allows you to change the things that the procal has. I had ask this a long time ago thinking there would be no need to get the SGW bypass cable but was told no that you you would still need it. I could be all wet but that is what I was told and never explored it further.

The TAZER has the autostop eliminator function as well. TAZER is meant to be left attached once "married" to the JEEP. More money but makes the JL more user friendly. I've got speedo calibrated, seatbelt ringer shut off, Low beams and fogs set to stay on in high beam. I removed my TPMS sensors in my wheels, so that annoying warning is gone (when you air down). Hope I helped...

Based on what I can deduce, the AEV ProCal harness installation adds pins to the factory OBD-II port in slots not populated from the factory, and JScan wouldn't know to access the CAN bus over the new ProCal pin locations, so would still sniff/send data on the factory pins blocked by the SGW.

It might be possible to custom wire it to work, though.
