Hi all. Like I said my introduction post, name is Eric. Been driving jeeps and modifying/building off-road vehicles on and off for most of my life. Wish I had pictures of my early builds and jeeps, but fortunately I grew up in a time before technology and cell phones (I get the irony that I’m posting on an Internet forum, but we all have to attempt to adapt). My current build is a new to me gem of a find. 2021 Hydro Blue 2 door Sport S 6 speed manual with 24,000 miles. I’m bordering on old, grumpy and tired, so this will be my second non-lifted build …the first was short owned. My goal is a fun and capable Jeep for fishing and camping with my son, and maybe an Overland platform to compliment our JT. KMC wheels and MT Baja Boss tires should be here next week. Not sure what the end(ish) result will be, but it’s worth its weight in therapy. Cheers!!

Nice Jeep to build the way you want. Father-son project?

Beautiful guitar, BTW.

Yeah. We got a good start on the JT that my son is driving. Both will be father/son projects. He’s younger and better suited to roll around under the Jeeps.

And the guitar is a pipe dream. I would love a custom PRS …

Non lifted sounds good and all, but Rubicon struts and springs on sport is great and probably all you would ever need.

Please post pictures of those tires and wheels when you get them on your Jeep. That one you have looks like a great starting platform, low miles, a 2 door, Hydro Blue and a 6MT no less.

Really like seeing mild 2 door builds. Doing one myself.

Nice rig to start on. Mine is similar, I am older and my arthritis limits what I can do. For my wife to get in my pretty much STOCK Willys she needs a step stool. I found mine at the wrong place at the wrong time and paid too much. But it was the color, the LACK of options and a Florida Jeep that was never taken off-road.

4 years later and after having a VERY bad time with a Dealership on a trade for a new Jeep, the wife and my long list of Grandkids that love my Jeep are having a say into what gets updated. For my wife and I it is comfort based, leather seat kit with heated seat installed soon, new tires (all 5) even though there are only 19,000 miles on the Jeep. Destination M/T’s are just too loud. We are going 1 inch wider and All Terrain BF Goodrich because I’ve always wanted a set one of my Jeeps.

Just ordered in a Leather Wrapped Steering wheel that I think is actually nicer that the MOPAR ones. Only wish there was I wish I could have added heat!

One suggestion for you. Those Freedom panels are a huge pain in the ass, or at least they were for me. 2 years ago I installed the Bestop Sunrider Twill top on mine. It’s the best of the Softtop with the better security of the hardtop. You can open that top while waiting at a stop light. Two clamps and a toss back and you are open air for sure!

Good Luck with your build!

Thanks, brother. Good luck with the dealership, that’s rarely even a tolerable experience. I drive a lot for work, so I’m cool with a hard top for now. Keeps all my gear just a little more secure.

Got some work done on Phase 1 …Phases being arbitrary ideas, not lists. The big two are wheels, tires and Armorlite flooring.

33x12.5R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs on KMC Carnage wheels 17x9 -12 offset. Spare tire set on a Teraflex Alpha HT adjustable tire carrier.

Armorlite flooring was a must. The previous owner frequented the beach, so the carpets were saturated with sand. The cleanup took longer than everything else.

This was the sand I knocked out of the rear cargo lid.

Distinction Applied hood cowl to replace the badly faded black one. Raceline hood struts. Crown OEM style hood latches to replace the rusted crap ones that were on the Jeep.

If y’all have storage ideas, please post them here. Seems like a lot of companies have forgotten about the 2 door …the REAL Jeep.:rock:

Got a couple more things done this weekend. Audio Uprising dash speakers, Bolt hood lock and a Primo Workz arm rest. The speakers are awesome! Can’t wait for AU to release their soundbar speakers. Really don’t want to spend a f’ton of money on a full stereo upgrade, just want to be able to hear the music with the top off. I drive a lot …the arm rest is a game changer.

Ok. I don’t regret the manual. I love driving manual, and have driven manuals all over the world …both left and right hand drive. This manual is just bonkers! According to the MOPAR web site, my VIN lists the recall work was done in 2023. The damn service transmission light is ridiculous! She’s getting re-geared next week. Maybe that shop can accomplish what the dealership failed to remedy. I just want that warning to go away!!

Cheers!

Swapped out the MagnaFlow axle back for an OEM muffler. So much quieter! Maybe swap the Corsa back to OEM as well. I drive a lot and the base sound system is anemic at best. I need a quiet Jeep.
