I Just build them
So your opinion about waiting or buying a JK is mostly due to supplier QC and supply issues needing to be sorted out as a normal part of the production process?
Yes. With any launch, there will be issues, doesn't matter who it is Ford,GM,FCA, Toyota etc. So much changes when you bring out a new model. Until you actually see it, you wouldn't believe how much goes in to it. Idk how the engineering team figures this out. Just to set up 1 work station takes time and there is a few hundred stations.

Very well said , and you are the voice of actual experience .
There are many others here that own a JL and are voices of actual experience on the quality of those Jeeps. Are there some that have issues? You bet, no one denies that. But does that really mean that ALL JL's are crap? No, absolutely not! But @raqball suggested that they are. Perhaps his was. He doesn't need to justify getting rid of that crappy Jeep to anyone of us, just himself. In fact, I would do the same.

JK owners seem to sniff around the JL forum. Why? Is it because the JK owners wish that their Jeep was more like a JL Jeep? Perhaps they simply are window shopping? I personally don't care what JK owners do with their internet time. But to come on a JL forum and bash it any way they can is in fact....TROLLING. Why not spend that time praising the JK on that forum? I think that's the jist that everyone else is probably thinking around here when they see posts that condemn the JL all around. Especially when WE know that not all JL's are crap.

My brother has a JK, he loves his Jeep. I love his Jeep and we both love mine. He does admit though, that he should have waited and bought a 2018 JL instead of his 2017 JK, but he doesn't whine about it. There are many reasons why he wishes that, the new options on the JL are upgrades the JK owners wanted. He lives with his decision and I praise his JK Recon.

I just don't understand the hate.

I guess I'll just go to the JK forum and stir up the beehive......Naw, I'm having too much fun with my crappy Jeep JL.

The reason this JL forum is so popular is because we have never before heard of a 2 month old Jeep with 20 problems ( see Issues , Repairs , etc.)

I did? Where? I've said the exact opposite at least 3 times here in this thread alone!! (bold'd portion of quote]

I still come here because I am a fan of Jeeps. I want to keep updated on what's going on with the JL. JK owners who come here and participate are trolls now? Wow, does it ever end? In my particular case I actually owned the JL for 6 weeks.

I come back when someone quotes me or my build thread gets a post. While here I read other posts to. What do you want, a closed forum where only happy JL owners can participate? Provide proof of current JL ownership before you can join and write a glowing review of it as well as a membership requirement?

Who populates the "electronics" work station ? The Three Stooges ?

Who came up with the ESS Start-Stop idea ? The Nutty Professor ?

Who is in charge of efficient management ? Elon Mush ?

It's logical that later production will or should have fewer QC issues as things get sorted out. From your experience, how long does it usually take before production is somewhat worked out? I only ask because you suggested waiting or buying a JK for now. Thanks for your insight, much appreciated.

Easy ... easy . @raqball owned a JL , and he had problems , so he got a JK . He is sharing his opinions because the OP asked for opinions .
Some use the trolling word to discredit anyone who has had issues.... I don't think they understand the word or when it's relevant... If someone posted 'please give me your glowing reviews of the JL' and I posted in that thread about my issues then sure that could be trolling....

Meh, they can think I am a troll all they want. I'll share my opinion in relevant threads where it's applicable. Their name calling and put downs do not bother me in the least as it says more about them than it does about me..

Hi everyone,
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but has anyone else been hesitant to get the JL based on the issues we've been reading about?
My friends have told me i am crazy to even consider buying a jeep.
I figure the majority aren't having issues, and they've sold a lot of wranglers.
Bought my 2018 JL sport 2 months ago and haven't experienced any issues.
This is my 7th jeep, #2 - CJ5,CJ7 ..... JKs and JL. Its the best design to date.

People tend to be more vocal when there's something that's unsatisfactory, as opposed to when things are just fine. Just look at Yelp reviews.

I haven't experienced any problems yet, but i do read all the postings regarding the issues that others are experiencing just to keep on top of things, especially for TSBs and such. No vehicle is perfect, and that's been true for every vehicle I have ever owned.

If you page through the remainder of the postings here, it owners asking and giving advice on pretty much every subject, or proudly posting pictures of their rigs - just take a look at the garage! These posts dominate the majority of the content which is a pretty good indicator of how things are going in overall.

Test drive the vehicle you want to buy, and ask your dealer about the issues that have been listed here and gauge their response. I prefer to have a dealer that I'm comfortable working with for regular maintenance and addressing potential issues.

That said, I went from a tuned rally car to my first Jeep, and it's been one hell of an adventure. This community is nothing short of amazing, and I have few regrets making the jump to a JL*.

* The money i'm spending on getting stuff for the rig is starting to get out of control.
Ditto what he said. Plus I test drove 4 different JLs (even though ours was on order). None had any issues I could tell and our JLR was no different. You can drive it with one finger (on a smooth road). The only regret is for our 2door the trail management system is a joke. You have about 10” of track on the floor. Why they didn’t continue it under the rear seat is beyond me. That would make a lot of sense.
And another non issue but wonder why not: why didn’t they design in a holder for the gas cap when filling up?

Edit: I forgot to mention that we did buy maxcare for life. We drive our cars into the ground and given the JL has a lot of new tech, it was a peace of mind aspect. Also the only mods planned for us was tinting the front door windows. Btw it looks good.

They are blindly obedient to the JL electronics , and do whatever their infotainment system orders . Same as the Tesla owners . Because of the Teslas , I have a giant hitch extender with an extra heavy hitch on the back of my JK , just waiting for the cell phone using Tesla owners .

@raqball , on the other hand , has a rational independent mind and thinks for himself .
As long as someone gets a trouble free JL then it's a fantastic Jeep, no doubt about it... Many here probably have gotten just that. I didn't and I also didn;t really like some of the new features and aesthetics but that's a to each their own type deal. Some love ESS, I hated it. Some dig the side vents, I thought they were fugly...

I think the problem is that some take any JL criticism as an attack on them and their personal purchasing decision that must be met full force and squashed via discredit attempts and calling others trolls...

If someone is happy with their JL then cool beans! I hope they have many years and miles of ownership from it. Discounting the issues is a bad idea for a few reasons. 1) Potential owners should be made aware of them so they can look out for these issues when buying. 2) If nobody ever complained Jeep would think everything is golden. There are more reasons why open and honest conversation should take place re: the good, the bad and the ugly but some demand rose colored glasses be worn and that's not really a prudent way to go about dropping $50K on a vehicle..

I always advise the Tesla owners in my town that they're "going to be stranded if they go up Highway 1 in Big Sur" . They respond : "Oh , it doesn't have the range ". I reply , "duh" . They seem to know their limitations .

So why did you even buy one? Sounds pretty stupid if you hated all this stuff before even buying it. Now you really sound like trolling.

So I assume you like everything about every purchase you've ever made? LOL C'mon now enough with the discredit attempts and improper using of the trolling word...

Had I kept the JL a TazerJL was the next purchase to kill ESS.. As far as the fugly side vent's, I could live with them. Not the JL's best feature IMO but not a deal breaker either... Are the fugly? In my opinion yes..

I also have a Google Pixelbook and don't dig the white keys. I guess I am an idiot for buying it as well even though I like everything else about it... I have a BMC bike but don't like the seat that came on it. Another idiot purchase on my part... Lets see what else have I purchased that I am not 110% perfectly in love with............... LOL

Sounds like you live in fairy tale land if you like absolutely everything about every purchase you've ever made....

Any other puts downs? If so can you please put them all in one post? ~Thanks!

Let's say you , as a Trailhawk owner , buy a Trackhawk or a Hellcat because you like the HP and the speed . Obviously you have bucks to spend close to $100K . You see me , without money in a Wrangler JK , and you say your Trackhawk or Hellcat can really perform .

Then , something happens within 2 months , like the track bar shears off at the weld , or it throws a lot of dumb electronic codes , and the dealer and fca are passing the buck about the problem and how to deal with it . So you see me again , and you say my Wrangler JK sounds better and better . Same as @raqball .

He's simply offering his experience to assist the OP in her decision , that's all .

The put downs and insults have now reached nitpicking mode... FWIW I also didn't like that the dealer said I got a full tank of gas but I think I got shorted a gallon or two...... One bright side is that keyboard commandos often offer some entertainment into the tread.. :D
