Is anybody out there using 37x11.5 or 35x11.5 tires? I found that Nitto makes both for 17in and 18in rims but haven't been able to find any pictures of them on a Jeep.

Most people running these sizes are 12.5in or 13.5in wide.

I love the look and lift of bigger tires, but hate when they stick out past the fenders. The 11.5in width can be tucked nicely and still not rub at full lock.

I want to still run stock wheels, or a wheel with a +44 to +10 backspacing. Anything less than that sticks out too far for my taste.

there are some pictures of a 37x11.5 Nitto recon grappler on the gladiator forum. they are more like a true 36. Similarly I ran 35x11.5 which were true 34s at best. Some of the narrow tires have severely narrow profiles that makes them look skinnier than stock 33 ko2s. Mickey Thompson Baja boss has a 255/80/17 that is more true to size 35 but super narrow width profile

it is actually is a 255/85-17 and is a 35x10-17. I have run the Toyo AT3 in the 35x11.5-17 as well and the Mickey Thompson's are taller by a smidge. both great tires but I like the MT's better. Many don't like the pizza cutter look tho. I switch back and forth between the 255/85-17 and 35x12.5-17 depending on what i am doing

FWIW...The BFG KO2 37x12.50 'C' is about 5/8" narrower than the BFG KO2 'D'. This was one of the reasons when I installed KO2 37 C's when first introduced on my '20 JLR I quickly had Discount swap them for KO2 37 D's. I personally did not like the 'pizza cutter' look of the C's nor how they handled, much prefer the KO2 D's and recently installed another set on my new '24 JLR-X.

If function is relevant to the discussion, the narrower tires are a great choice, unless the primary objective is flotation for beach running or similar.

if you want to optimize for all around function take a look at how military vehicles are equipped. Or look at off-road vehicles in Africa, Australia, Germany, etc. American tire preferences seem to be heavily influenced by the BigFoot look so many kids toys came with in the 80s and 90s.

My F350 pickup came with narrow 35” Duratracs I had drilled and studded for winter use. I bought a set of 37” Toyo AT3s for summer. When I reinstalled the Duratracs about 7 weeks ago I was startled by how effortless the steering was. I prefer the relatively pillowy ride of the 37s when the truck isn’t heavily loaded, and I have almost an inch of additional ground clearance, but that’s the end of the advantages. I probably won’t do it again.
