I had 315/70r17 STT Pro’s on my last JK. Took them off after a couple months. Never again.

Rode like I had wooden wagon wheels on the Jeep, no matter how low I ran the tire pressure. Also, pulled right. Had two alignments, rotated the tires cross pattern, side to side, front to back. Didn’t matter. Replaced them with Ridge Grapplers and all problems solved as soon as I left the tire store.

I didn’t care about the noise, it’s a Jeep! But I swear, I’ve ran bias ply Super Swampers that were better on the road.

Just my experience. YMMV

I am running the Mastercraft Courser MXTs which are made by Cooper and resemble the tread pattern. I personally do not notice any significant increase in road noise with the hard top on. I cannot speak for topless and I haven't removed the top yet. These are no louder than GY Wrangler Dura tracs that I had on a previous JKU. I was hesitant at first when I ordered them but I am pleasantly surprised and have zero regrets. My wife is a pretty good critic and she would not downplay something she didn't like and when I first put them on the Jeep I asked her if she thought my tires were noisy, without hesitation she told me "not at all" and that she really liked the look of the mud terrains vs the previous KO2s I was running.
How are you liking the MXT's after a few miles? Have they gotten any louder? What size are you running? Thanks

I've got about 8,000 miles on them now and I still like them. I haven't noticed any increase in noise. They are size 295/70/18.

I imagine the Mastercraft MXT is lighter than the STT Pro bc it's only a 2 ply sidewall. I imagine the STT Pro would be more durable offroad.

I had the Mastercraft MXT on a previous jeep. I liked them a lot. They were quiet and smooth on the road, stayed balanced, and did great offroad.

Though I have no personal experience with the STT Pros (which were high on my list until recently), I have read too many accounts and watched too many videos where the noisiness of the STT Pros are mentioned. In one video by TrailRecon, someone whose opinion I respect, he said he got rid of his STT Pros because, although they started out quiet and he loved them, they got progressively louder and louder to the point where, at 40K miles, he couldn't stand the noise any longer. That was the clincher for me. I'm now down to the Milestar Patagonias and the BFG KO2s. My problem with these two choices is that, in the size I need, the former is E-rated and the latter is D-rated. Not sure I want either of those on my Jeep, but I'm running out of options. I may just get a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers though they definitely would not be in the running if I could get either of the aforementioned tires in a C or lower rating.
Brad switched back to sst pro on his wrangler and is running milestars on his JT.

All I can speak to is that it is lighter. I couldn't find any side wall info. It is an E load rated tire.

Have you googled it? There are several sites referencing the Mastercraft MXT has a 2 ply sidewall and the STT Pro is 3 ply and also has a different carcass.

Never googled. Only referred to each manufacturer's website. Good to know however. Thanks. For my purposes the 2 ply, lighter MXT does just fine. I might give the Cooper's a try when I need new tires. To throw another MT tire into the mix, I just picked up a Gladiator which runs the Falken Wildpeak MTs as stock and I must say I am impressed with their on road manners and quietness so far.

And Brad already had a sidewall puncture in his milestars on a light overland outing in the JT. Have you seen his latest overlanding video? I know others who have had sidewall punctures in them as well.

After approx. 14K miles in 7 months on the OEM BFG KO2s, I switched to the 35” Cooper STT E load tire. In the past 3 weeks, they have logged 2.5K miles. They have performed excellently off road and have great on road manners for MTs. There is a road hum, if you listen for it. Other than that, the noise is not noticeable.

Makes me sorry I decided to cheap out. I’ve always wondered about the sidewall strength. There is a reason they are so light.

Yep...I know 2 people locally who are running 315/70/17 Milestar's on their jl's and they both had sidewall problems on their 2nd trip to Windrock.

I have a more serious off road trip coming up, might have to go tire shopping. Wife cut 3, count them 3 of the old Mickey Thompson MTZ’s in one day 12 years ago. That was a pain for her pit crew (me).
