I was only sharing what I remember seeing a number of times about ACE sliders on jkowners.com. Maybe they learned from those issues and went with a thicker wall tubing though it's not clear if it's DOM, ERW, or whatever since they only make a mention of "mild steel tubing". All it takes is a Google search for Jeep JK ACE failure to get an idea of what I was talking about. My point wasn't so much to bash ACE so much as point out that for the average Joe pounding the mall parking lot or dirt roads, the ACE slider/Rubi rail combo will be fine. If you're planning on doing any serious wheeling you want something that is going to be strong enough to support the weight of the Jeep. That along with needing something that also functioned as a step where what played into my decision making process for both of my past Jeep.

The dimple stamped plates on the LoD sliders, while yes they do much for the aesthetics, they're also functional. Try easily stepping up or standing on a round tube when it's wet or muddy, that's what is nice about the platform up top while down below it the plates offer a smoother surface for the slider to slide over and not caught on tree branches or rocks.

Last thing I'll mention is I'm pretty sure ACE products are made in China which likely explains the price point and warranty.
Since the information is incorrect, shouldn’t this post be revised? This can have big consequences to small companies.

Just got this from Chris at LoD. Apparently they will be releasing theirs in a couple of weeks. Send them an email to be added to their contact list.

Apparently you haven't read as far as the post where I acknowledged that I was incorrect and was provided wrong information by my buddy who was doing the install on a co-workers JK.

Does anyone know if the Westin Snyper black triple tube rock rails can be installed without removing the factory rock rails?

Man, I’m really liking these Destroyer rock rails by LOD. These are for the JK models, but I sure as hell hope they plan on releasing something like this for the JL.

I like these over the Mopars. But if LoD takes too long, I’ll grab a pair of the Mopar step rails.

I like those a lot also. I emailed LOD and they responded right away. These should be out in the next few weeks. These seem to combine what I liked from a few different sets, into one great set. I plan to order.

I just hope that what they’re releasing at least looks similar to those Destroyers. We’ll find out soon.

Here's ours ( ROAM JL Side Armor Steps ).

We've got integrated LED lighting that illuminates the step area and full width (of the doors) step egress step plates. Also, our JL Side Armor Steps hug the base of the OE fenders because they're compatible with our JL Long Arm suspension kit (also pictured below).

Thanks for the interest and support! We'll have more pictures up on our site after we're back from EJS.

Are they a good brand?
I probably shouldn't be the one to answer this, but this question usually breaks down into three components:

1. How well do our products hold up:

Our JL Side Armor Steps are constructed from mixed 1/4″ and 3/16″ high strength steel and are seam welded along the step plates. All ROAM front and rear bumper structures and exterior components are powdercoated (2 stage textured poly) for surface durability; will exceed OE specifications for resistance to the elements. We test everything on our own development and demo vehicles so what you're receiving will be perfect. So obviously not a lot of people have these right now so I guess you're going to have to wait and find out from other people reviewing these.

2. How do we treat our customers:

Our JL Side Armor Steps are covered by our 2-year warranty which covers almost everything including abuse or wrecks. So if you were unfortunate enough to have wrecked your JL and you've got our side steps on there, we'll warranty them even if they're wrapped around a telephone pole (shipping not included and proof of accident required). Also the disclaimer of when wheeling your rig after installation, "broken face, broken pride, and broken dreams not covered under warranty" should apply. :)

3. What are we like as a company:

Made in the US of A. To clarify, each and every ROAM component is conceptualized, designed, tested, and made domestically within in the U.S. of A.. We're not afraid of showing off our R&D, and we also do custom builds / custom fabrication if that helps. Attached below are some of our in process images of our JL Long Arm kit (compatible with our JL Side Armor Steps).

Promo pricing. We'll probably offer a group buy promo sometime after we've got more content up on our site so stay tuned for more info coming up. Thanks!
