Hi friends,
I just took delivery of my 2021 Wrangler JLU. It came with rock rails. I'd like to add side steps. Can I add side steps with rock rails? I don't want to remove my rock rails but it looks like I can't have both? Can I? Thoughts and experiences please. Thanks in advance! Mark

Far from an expert, but I see two issues:

1) where would the steps mount to the vehicle? I would think they would both want to use the same spots on the Jeep.

2) Assuming #1 was not an issue, would your new steps have long enough bolts to handle the extra width of the rails.

If you we’re buying new, you can find rocker guards that come out far enough from the vehicle to be useful as steps, but that means not using what you have. You could always sell the rock rails, there is usually demand for them.

ACE is one of the few that work with the factory rails. They are body mounted so they come up under the factory rails. Gives a nice clean look IMO.

I have the Roam slider/steps (frame mounted — remove the rubicon factory sliders). I have zero issues with them so far. No rusting as some others have experienced And no body damage issues as some others have experienced. BUT……. I don’t slam them on boulders. I take trails for pussies.

that said, I have “hot” rocks/ledges” with them and they have stood up well, I had to use a black rattle can on the underside after one trip down Fins and things …… they stood up fine.

perhaps consider them or the LODs of similar design.

Somewhat. These are really rails working as a step. They are extremely heavy duty. Really more than I expect to ever need. I just wanted something that would work with the factory rails so the pinch seam would cover.

Factory option. So so as a step IMO. They replace the standard rock rails. Hides seam well.

I have these too. They are an excellent compromise between rock rails and a bit more of a ledge for stepping into Jeep.

ACE was recently purchased. I purchased my sliders first week of June. Just received email today that they are being shipped (3-4 days away) from new facility in Illinois. Looks like approximately 7-8 weeks from ordering to delivery....
