Great. That’s helpful and pics are priceless. Is that a fuse then that’s accessory power or tied to some lighting?
Where are on the Jeep are you accessing the towing harness power. At the back or under the hood somewhere?
Hi Justin, I found the pic that shows where I tapped into the running lights on my tow package harness. Here it is.
Jeep Wrangler JL Rubi Recon IMG_4071

On my Jeep, this is the White/Brown Stripe. I verified it with a test meter before stripping/soldering. The other white wire(w/orange stripe) on the harness is the back up lights. Hopefully this will give you a jumping in point, but please verify with a meter on your build.

Steven. Thanks for taking the time to dig up the old photoS! I’ll be sure to meter before using it. I’m starting to figure on getting some lights here and usually start doing the homework ahead of time. I really appreciate your time in answering the questions.

Freaking awesome build!!!! Took me a few days to go through all the pages but well worth it!

Just got my 2018 jl a few months ago and trying to figure out where to even start. Id like to get the bull bar which goes on the steel front bumper then add some lights to start. I took your suggestion from the start of your thread and got the rhino rack cross bars. But at some point id like to run a full rack.

By any chance can you provided all the lights you have on your rig? From the 4 on your front bumper to the 2 on each A pillar. Then I know you have a few up on the rack.

I am trying to figure out which beam patter is the best for each location. It seems like you got it dialed in!

thanks!

Hey Brian, thanks for the compliment!

Give me a chance to pull that together for you. I'll go over each light and detail what I used. I think it would be useful have that info together in one place.

I'll get back to you soon with this.

Ok, here's the run down on the auxiliary lighting on my build. I'm glad you asked me about this because it's nice to have it all in one post.

Let's start up front and work our way to the back. On the bumper a pair of Baja Designs LP4's...

Jeep Wrangler JL Rubi Recon IMG_6543

The LP4's are an amazing light. I'm using the 'Driving Combo'. Great forward punch with lots of closer in side illumination (200 degree spread). I also love the amber backlighting.

On the outer corner of the bumper I mounted a pair of Diode Dynamics SSC1 Pro Yellow, Amber Backlight...
Jeep Wrangler JL Rubi Recon IMG_4287.JPG

These are the 'Wide' beam pattern. Having them lower on the bumper makes them great in dusty, snowy, inclement conditions. This was a super easy mount using the existing bolts in the Mopar Steel Bumper.

While were up front, may as well mention the LED's found in the Rugged Ridge Fender Chop Kit...
Jeep Wrangler JL Rubi Recon IMG_3435-1

The fender LED's put out a nice amount of power providing a little illumination on the trail/road.

Moving to the A-Pillars. Here I'm running Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro Yellow, Combo lens...
Jeep Wrangler JL Rubi Recon IMG_4289.JPG

I used Yellow here as it is easier on the eyes. The clear lens were putting too much light on the hood.

Also on the A-Pillar are a set of Diode Dynamics SSC1 that are used as 'Ditch' lights mounted with custom brackets. Having the ability to see the edge of the trail/road is a huge help. I started with Yellow lens and then switched to Clear, Wide Beam, Amber Backlight...

Now on to the roof rack. On the front of the rack I'm running a set of Diode Dynamics SS3 Max Pods Clear, Combo Lens, Amber Backlight...

Thanks a lot for the write up on the Aux lighting. I was curious why you switched your A-pillar ditch lights from Amber to White lenses?
