Looking to get some external mounted gas can without having to break the bank. I like the thought of being able to remove it when I’m not off roading as I live in the SF Bay Area ( #1 in car break ins ). Although the simple answer would be to move away from this armpit, is there anything I can do to make this ez rack more theft deterrent when I do have it on ?

I know you can buy the locking rotopax adapters, but I assume the ratchet strap can be cut. Are there some theft deterrent ratchet straps that aren’t as easy to cut ? Anyone have some DIY solutions ?

Thanks in advance !

Here is my setup, there is nothing to keep someone from stealing this setup. So I remove and store when not in use.

Trail rax?

Not as friendly on the bank on the way in but more secure than a ratchet strap, and moves weight off the tailgate. Also capable of supporting 4 packs per side.

That’s a cool night shot… how did you light the foreground and Jeep?

Thanks man! It’s a 15 second exposure, my wife is standing behind the Jeep shining my flashlight back and forth on the rock wall, and I’m holding a small LED lantern behind the camera

You're not gonna like the price, but the only relatively secure fuel cell that I'm aware of is AEV's. It's also fairly large at 10.2g.

I like it as I so want more onboard fuel for the 2dr but it's a non starter for me.

Two one issue...
1. Requires a 37in or larger tire... running 35s
2. New bumper/tire carrier set up.

Edited: to correct misread.

I'm pretty sure it's up to a max of 37". They put them on their JL350s (35s). And yes, it requires their hot stamped boron steel bumper. Not cheap.

Oops... I misread 17in for 37in. Nevermind. Still not crazy about the bumper aspect but I guess required for that much more weight. Will need to consider this at some point as I want to try some overlanding with my 2dr. Edited earlier post.

Thanks for the heads-up about the tire limits. I was thinking about going with 38s wherever these need to be replaced.

Thanks!

Yes sir, it’s the Milky Way. I pulled it out a bit in Lightroom, but nothing fake or composite, just helping the camera with exposure

? I agree, it’s a super cool experience seeing it with the naked eye. If you’d like to find it for yourself you can check dark sky maps near you. If you can catch it before the moon comes up you can usually see it regardless of moon phase

?Not to hijack the thread, but, here’s another one from caprock canyons in Texas.
