I’m needing a new fuel can for the lawnmower, so I decided why not get a rotopax. That way I have it just in case I need it for a road trip some day.

Does anyone have a recommendation on size? I was going to go with a three gallon, but everyone seems to have the two gallon size. There might be a day I mount it to the Jeep, so I wanted to confirm three gallons isn’t too large. Thanks!

Does anyone have a recommendation on can size and mounting system for the JL? I was going to go with a three gallon, but thought it might be better to go with a smaller one for some reason. @wibornz When I did a search to see if this question had been asked before, I saw that you’re wife recently bought you a couple of 2 gal. I’d appreciate your input. Thanks!
Not rotopax related but just a side note.. Terrible timing to look for one, because of the fuel shortage causing people to buy anything fuel related, however Wavian jerry cans are hard to beat. Literally got mine a few days before the madness and can't recommend it enough.

I thought the same thing, but the general public hasn’t picked up on their use, or not willing to spend that much $$ to buy them. They appear to be availabile on Amazon and other sites.

I bought two of the 2 gallon pax for my trips.
just crossed the Mojave desert on a full tank and luckily didn’t need extra gas but had one on hand. Bought another one to just carry 4 gallons.

They are available, depending on size and color, but have increased in price. FEMA was subsidizing the cost of the containers but suspended it for the time being. So the wavian can I paid 69 bucks for at the beginning of the week was 99 at the end of it. Finding the 20L yellow/diesel cans in stock proved to be a challenge but campingmaxx had em and their shipping was instant.

Thanks for the info. How was FEMA subsidizing the cost? That isn’t something I was aware of, and I’d like to keep it on my radar.

Not exactly sure, the info paper with my order specified it.

However it would make sense for them to incentivize the populace doing what they can for themselves in terms of fuel storage before an emergency. That way when situations happen like the southeast is seeing now, the populace has their own fuel supply and it lessens the burden on the entire system.

I have one 4 gallon fuel rotopax and two 2 gallon water rotopax. i mounted the fuel on one side of my roof rack and i mounted the two water ones on the other side. i am pretty happy with them, they are generally out of the way and are pretty secure.

there was not quite enough room for both the water paxs to be mounted and allow the rear door to open so i only have one on in the winter and when i put my tube doors on in the summer i add the second pax.

they were a little on the spendy side, but i like them and they are worth it.
