I did have the Rockslide Engineering strap & plates but now I use the TrailRax mounting system.

How were you able to mount the packs vertically? I tried to move the mount that way and the screws for the rack are in the way to be able to mount the rotopax mount horizontal.

I'm not sure what screws you are running into. There is a pic of my arrangement below.

I had no problem with the vertical mounting. I am using two cans (I assume you are too) and a little adjustment to the screws that hold the rack together gave me all the room needed to mount the base units horizontally to match the horizonal slot in the cans.

Once the rack was mounted, and the base unit set horizontally, it was just a matter of placing the slot in the can, which is horizontal, over the base unit then screwing in the locking unit.

Thanks I made it work! The bolts in the back just barely had enough room to tighten on the back.

Yeah,, I ran into the same problem but tweaking on the rack a bit and sliding the base units as far as possible left and right in the slots made it work for me to.

Congrats.

Thanks! Probably wouldn't have thought it was an option had I not seen your post. I think the switch has solved the banging issues that was happening with the pax so hooray!

I had some minor bangs going on so I got some flexible rubber tube door jamb insulation and put it on the back of the cans where they came into contact with the rack. It worked wonders.

I like your mounting option. I never thought about using the spare as the carrier.

I'm glad this worked out for you.

Smart! I had some foam I had used for the inside to dampen the sound of my wheel well storage bin so used some of that on the back of the pax so now I think the problem is 100% solved. Thanks for the tip.

Thought this would be be the right thread to ask...Has anyone ever lost their keys for the locking pack mount? If so, what did you do?

I know Rotopax sells replacement lock cylinders and keys and they do state they don't carry spare keys. So hoping I'm not the only one who's ever misplaced their keys for the locking mount?

The trendy theft thing a few years ago was to stick a Bic pen (with end cap removed) into the cylinder and open them up. Worth a try.

Or, a good locksmith can make you a new key. I’ve had a barrel key made before.
