My steering was good, no issues, but this definitely tightened it up. My steering wheel would move slightly over bumps, or train tracks, not bump steer just a slight movement
That's exactly what I'm trying to dial out post-lift. It's not bad, just a slight annoyance.

Sounds like knuckles and ball joints are on the list now...

Did you by chance check the toe? Mine went from 1/16 in to 1/16 out after the install. I checked it just before I started and when I was done. Just interested to see how close the tolerance is on these.
I’ll check it in the morning, it was a long day,lol, and I didn’t think to do it. I know it was 1/16 in on old knuckles.

It’s definitely a noticeable difference. Should have been like this right off the lot, IMO.

It’s definitely a noticeable difference. Should have been like this right off the lot, IMO.
well...obviously!!! Haha. Jeep knows the aftermarket will pick up their slack.

Well I will say the steering is much more responsive with the Reid knuckles vs the factory crap. It almost feels like I swapped out the gear box with a faster ratio box. The pull to the Rt I had feels like it’s gone, I am willing to bet the ball joints squared up the camber on the front, I won’t know until I get it back on an alignment rack if it did.

Unfortunately the wobble I had that started this whole adventure in rebuilding the factory steering seems to still be there. There is officially nothing left to replace on this thing. I might have to just admit defeat on this thing and move on.
If you replaced your trackbar with an aftermarket one, did you also replace the hardware or reuse the OE bolts? The OE are metric and are just a bit smaller than the aftermarket TB holes... I replaced my hardware and my little wobble disappeared.

I did not, but I know on the Tj’s this was a big issue. I was actually just talking about this on another post. I have added this to my list for when I start playing with the Jeep again. It’s parked until all this white crap is gone now.

I did not, but I know on the Tj’s this was a big issue. I was actually just talking about this on another post. I have added this to my list for when I start playing with the Jeep again. It’s parked until all this white crap is gone now.
Cheap to try for sure. I spent a ton of time trying to track down my wobble. It was from 35-55MPH hitting bumps/holes "just right"... would wobble for about 2-3 seconds then slowly dissipate. Swapped the hardware for grade 8 9/16", gone. Local shop helped me find it. BTW, looking forward to getting this orange gold into my JLUR, as I've seen the alums grenade on a guy coming out of Mickey's hot tub. Can't image the cost of that tow!

Torque on the trackbar bushing ‘crush sleeve’ should negate that but hey...worth a shot I guess. I’ve had some issues with undersized hardware on vehicles in the past. .

This is the main reason I have not replaced the hardware, technically it really should not move when it’s tight. Doing a dry steer test 1000’s of times I have never seen or felt it move, but who knows with impact from a bump I guess. That is literally my wobble, it’s quick, short, but annoying! I would bet half the people driving the Jeep would hardly even notice it 99% of the time. There has been 1-2 times it was definitely worse, but they has only happened a few times.

After the conversation about the upper bushings on the diff I actually think that could be my issues. I did the lift and no spacers on the front. Drove it for about a week, added the spacers to level it, never loosened the arms. The following weekend was the first time I noticed the wobble. I played with the tires for about a month and drove it probably 1000 miles with the upper bushings bound up, I know, should have not done that, then when I started going through everything else I loosened everything and re torqued everything.I have never actually looked at the bushings though. That’s on my short list when it warms up.

@Jeep&dogs ....... my toe is exactly the same as it was with old knuckles, surprised me a little.
Maybe I should check mine again......I changed my settings by 1/4”. I have two pieces of 1” aluminum square tube I use that are marked to the diameter of my tires. I clamp them to the rotors and measure off them. Maybe one is slightly bent and my toe is actually in more than I am thinking.

Definitely check the track bar bolts as mentioned since you reused oem hw. Also check that upper control arm axle bushing. They are really soft, I saw that Currie joint but eh the price... don’t know if I still have the wobble that will be next haha

side note my BJs came in today!! Yay!

When I adjust my toe, I have a test “route” so to speak so I can feel differences over same terrain etc. I’ve found out if your toe is out of spec yeah you’ll get death wobble haha in all seriousness this is the best method. Each suspension and tire setup is different, some Jeep’s like more toe in/out.
