Sure...
Currently have and am daily driving a 2021 6spd manual Gladiator Mojave. I have a 392 XR on order and won't be looking back. The manual in the Gladiator is great, but I'd rather have a "slushbox" with more power behind it, then the underpowered setup in the Gladiator and a proper transmission. With all that being said, the Gladiator is, and has been, a fantastic pick-up.

Pin both engines and the 4cylinder doesnt have much left after 70. I could feel the difference. However, off the line and around town the 2.0 is better.
Really? Tell that to my Jeep lol. 95mph down the interstate on heavy 37ā€ tires the other day and still had more of I wanted it. I didn’t. But it was there. And I didn’t feel it lacked power getting to 95mph. I came out of a 2019 Ram Rebel with the 5.7l Hemi and a similar 8spd trans as the JL. yes it had way more power but I don’t feel my 2.0 is leaking in anyway. I like it better than the 3.6 I had in my jk. Yes I know it’s not exactly the same as the one in the JL. Especially mated to the 8spd. But I wouldn’t say it lost anything above 70.

No ragerts!
The JL auto is quite possibly the best auto I've ever driven.
Totally agree. The JLs's ZF 8-speed is among the top torque converter automatic transmissions I have driven. I would say the 8-speed automatic in the Supra is the best torque converter transmission I have driven. Guess what? The ZF transmission in the Supra is a very close cousin of the JL ZF. The ZF in the Supra is VERY close to some dual clutch transmissions. Even better than some. BMW is using the same ZF transmission in some of their M-Cars.

You could not be more wrong with your statement about the 2.0 not having much left after 70 mph.

I owned a '19 JLR 2.0T eTorque. I own a '22 JLR 3.6 eTorque now. So same gears and start-stop systems. As close to an apples-to-apples comparison you will get.

The 2.0 is a excellent match to the ZF 8-speed automatic. The down shifts are quick and crisp. On the boost it absolutely pulls great from 70 mph to 90 mph. The torque curve is great. Just off the line the eTorque gets both the 3.6 and 2.0 going initially. 3.6 feels better because it does not have the slight turbo lag the 2.0 does while building boost. The 3.6 is much more liner in power delivery. The 2.0 feels faster once the boost builds up. The boost does not take long to build. The 2.0's extra torque is very noticeable, even between 70 mph and 95mph. Bottom line, the 2.0 is no slouch.

Of course I have ordered a 2022 Jeep Wrangler rubicon with the extreme recon package in Tuscadero on October the 15th, it is currently built and waiting on shipping. I am beginning to rethink my order because I just happened to look at my local dealers website I didn’t know a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is around the same price of extreme recon package is . I have always liked the Gladiator Rubicons as well the best of both worlds a Jeep with the truck bed and with the capabilities of a Jeep. We sold a older ford ranger truck with the manual transmission and miss having the truck . The other thing is I am beginning to rethink the automatic transmission, because I have been driving manual transmissions from the age of 17, I am now in my fifties, this will be my first automatic Jeep in my life because I wanted the extreme recon package but unfortunately at the time I ordered it it is only available with the automatic. I know with the new automatics there is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid that worries me, plus you have the added cost of changing the automatic transmission fluid as well and automatic transmissions are more expensive to repair than a manual. Don’t have to worry with the manual about overheating the transmission. I have never been off road with a automatic Jeep and to be honest I am a bit apprehensive with using it all my experience has been with a manual off road. I am thinking of keeping the extreme recon package when it comes in for a few months to see if I like it and if I miss driving the manual. If I like it I will keep it but if not I think I will order myself a Gladiator Rubicon with the manual transmission with the options that I want and trade my Rubicon with the extreme recon package in against it when the Gladiator comes in that way I should be good money wise as hopefully the extreme recon package should still hold its value . So what do you think I should do, any advice greatly appreciated
Look up some threads about the manual trans for the JL. Both for relibility and gearing.

Like a few others have already said, the ZF 8-Speed automatic is excellent. It really is. The gearing and programming is excellent. The automatic really transforms how the JL drives compared to the JK before it.

You can always buy a Mopar Max Care Extended Warranty for a good discount if you have any concerns.

Exactly what I was thinking while reading the post….Everything is questioned but that color ?ā€ā™‚
I saw a 392 XR Tuscadero up close a few weeks ago and was shocked how good the color looked in person.

@Rachel Ruby, I think you asked a fair question and luckily, I am here to offer you 100% unbiased recommendations based on exhaustive research and multiple data points. I apologize for any lack of detail but it is Super Bowl Sunday but I’ll try to help you sort through this:

Your remorse is real.

You saw a 2 door, Firecracker Red Rubicon hardtop and sensualities you haven’t felt in years have suddenly stirred. You look at VK’s avatar and try to fight it but you feel powerless, almost helpless. A dog barks in the background as Bonnie Taylor ā€œTotal Eclipse of the Heartā€ echos on the TV……

You continue to stare at VK’s avatar and you start feeling flush. You look around hoping nobody notices the growing color in your cheeks. You reposition as your breathing becomes shallow but at a quicker pace. You nibble extra peculiarly on a pistachio……

Red JL

You struggle to end the fantasy as it conflicts with all things you hold dear. You’ve already promised yourself to another yet the endorphins are so overpowering, you don’t realize you just double dipped a chicken wing in the Ranch dressing. Another rule broken.

In quiet serendipity, you reflect on your life. You’ve always known you deserve better but you were unsure as to what. Something has been missing this whole time. Tomorrow is trash day. You clean the litter box and take the trash to the curb.

Was it that high school crush that never came to be? Accepting second place for Prom because familiarly took precedent over happiness?

You wash your hands and fold a drying towel. It was microfiber.

You look at VK’s avatar again as the estrogen in your body increases to an unignorable level. Is that even a word?

2 door, Firecracker Red Rubicon with heated mirrors and seats.

As you envision yourself leaning out on that beautiful red door, admired by so many, despised by none, a Tuscadero, no a Tuscadero Gladiator, now has the appeal of an eggplant taco.

As you rub your left knee, you realize kicking a clutch on the trail is a task for the younger crowd. You’ve proven yourself. Youā€˜ve earned the right to go past what’s familiar and embrace happiness.

To hell with yesterday, to hell with prunes. Life is about tomorrow. Anything less than an automatic transmission in a Firecracker Red 2 door Rubicon is nothing but a compromise to you. Never.Again.

You sit quietly with a small, confident smile on your face. You crack open another pistachio inspired at the realization your decision will liberate your soul. The salt is soothing, assuring. Empowering.

You prepare a joyous, almost spiritual reply of gratitude to VK for helping you see what you’ve always known but obscured ever since your Little River Band 8-track tape broke. Or was it Supertramp, ā€œBreakfast in Americaā€?

ā€œNever leave home without a book of matches to wedge the tapeā€ - Motherly advise irrelevant to pass on. Not this time, you have ducks.

Reborn, rejuvenated and without regret, you delete your heartfelt reply and your generous offer of a free set of Nitto’s (with TPMS) to VK. He is simply too kind, too benevolent, too humble……
You need to change your occupation to advertising copy writer. Bravo. And yes... Little River Band all the way.

It's a great color in person. Marketing screwed up. FCA did not do the color right by naming it after Pinky Tuscadero. More people probably would have ordered it if it was named something else. Maybe Fine Wine? :CWL:

The question is what engine would you like to be driving in the 10th mountain division against the Russians? The old reliable 3.6 the little 4 banger, the diesel or the loud hemi? :ontheloo: lol

Rather be Infantry. Armor and trucks are big easy targets.

I don’t understand why everyone getting a new Jeep wouldn’t get a 4xe. I can’t imagine someone who actually drives one wouldn’t fall in love with the speed and power.
Can't plug it in on the trail.

Rather be artillery, because we give dignity to what otherwise would be an ugly brawl.

(I was armor prior to artillery...)
