on mine I did the hotheads and sound assassin strips and noticed no sound difference altho in cold weather I think they help it feel warmer...
I too installed the hotheads full kit, and I don't think there is a meaningful difference. It helps more with temperature control than noise level.

I just ordered a 2026. I'll measure sound levels on my 2021 vs the 2026 at the same spot and speed and see if there is any difference.

Super easy to install, helps block heat too.

Use some rubber seal treament on the top and doors as well. I use: https://a.co/d/2O4w95A
The instruction videos for Hothead always show the roof panels on a perfectly raised and sized table with the back window conveniently removed. I'm guessing you didn't have this. How long the installation take? Also, it always looks like it would be very difficult to get the headliners as perfectly aligned as shown in the website? Once they are attached, there is no moving them for fine adjustments? I guess you didn't have these problems?

I have completed the following on my JLUR and it has helped:
-Hothead headliners with sound assassin strips to hard top(top &sides)
-Apply sound deadening material to tub & floor. I’ll used Kilmat via Amazon
-Apply sound deadening material to door skins (kilmat).
While all of these combined has made a significant difference you can’t make it feel like a Lexus, etc. The biggest improvement is at speeds <65mph. Once you get up to 70+ the wind noise wins. Maybe acoustic glass on the windows would help. I do know that when I added the sound deadening material inside the door skins it helped with road noise and sounded more refined from bumps , small road imperfections , etc.

while I don't think they worth it I had no issues getting them installed on the jeep and I had zero issue with getting them perfectly aligned. simply do a practice run before removing the tape backing..you will see can really only go in perfectly...if you screw up they can be yanked off right away..once they have been pressed on hard and sat a while I think they would be hard to pull off without damage but if for some reason when you were installing one was crooked you would have no issue pulling off and repositioning.

i used Hotheads headliners (both top and sides) with Sound Assassin strips underneath and felt it made a perceivable difference. db measurements on a phone app in our diesel on Muds at highway speeds is in the low-mid 60s.

there are lots of threads on here about them if you search around; some people seemed to find them helpful, others claim they were not.
i installed the SA strips first and drove it for a week that way and felt the difference right away. when i put the actual headliners in the next weekend, i didn't notice anywhere near as much difference. but it made a noticeable improvement in the ability to converse while driving.

Yes, it's a Jeep and not a Lexus or other ride that is fairly quite inside. But was wondering if anyone had taken steps with insulation pads, etc. to reduce the excessive noise inside. My 4 dr Willlys with the hard top will always be that way as I have no intentions of removing it. I own a SSR and with the push of a button can ride around in open air.
Often I find myself double-checking the "up" buttons on the door windows to be sure they were fully closed cause the sound inside seemed too much. Thinking of exploring the use of some sound deadening materials.............has anyone else been annoised and tackled this problem.

also I am sure you have done it but sometimes reposition the freedom panels make a difference..more than one person has reported the seals being slightly off...
I had to do that. My driver's panel was leaking.

I didn't remove my panels, I just sat inside the Jeep.

It is super easy. Maybe an hour tops?

worst part for me was cleaning up the white residue from scuffing up the surface...I laid painters cloth down but still had it everywhere...

My Jeep came with suspicious white powder in the glove box, so I figured a little more couldn't hurt.

I have most of a box of sound deadening mats from my MB Quart install that I plan in install under the carpet on the bare metal next spring. Figure it won't hurt and I already have the box.

My Jeep's noise level is acceptable till 65MPH. My problem is that above that, where I normally cruise on the highway the wind noise is very tiresome, specially if you are trying to have a conversation with a passenger in the back seat or if you are trying to make a hands free call.

I need a solution for 70MPH+

Not sure there is such a thing short of an intercom system

My understanding is that the CDL material (aka vibration dampening material) should be used on large panels to stop panel vibrations with a relatively small coverage (25%) and that MLV (aka floating barrier) is what actually blocks out the noise.

But about 90% of the install photos I see are tubs completely covered in CDL. Perhaps because there are two different uses for vehicle sound deadening - reducing rattles from a sound system and reducing noise. Good MLV will have a spec sheet with the sound transmission loss at different frequencies, usually 20 dba at low frequencies and 35 dba at higher frequencies. Disadvantage of MLV is that it is thicker, 1/4" up to 3/8", and harder to conform to the tub/doors etc and is also heavier.

I did a vehicle where I did both CDL and MLV and essentially glued the MLV together into a insulating tub within the tub. That car went from requiring ear plugs on the highway to not requiring earplugs. All tire and wind noise as I had muffled the exhaust pretty well.

Like others, I lined the tub with Dynamat and installed Armorlite.

I also vinyl wrapped the exterior (for looks/protection), which made a surprising difference in sound/vibration - especially for the door close "test".

I used Hot Heads Headliner for noise, it made a small difference. Maybe that combined with all the other suggestions here and you'll have what you are looking for.
