Yes, it's a Jeep and not a Lexus or other ride that is fairly quite inside. But was wondering if anyone had taken steps with insulation pads, etc. to reduce the excessive noise inside. My 4 dr Willlys with the hard top will always be that way as I have no intentions of removing it. I own a SSR and with the push of a button can ride around in open air.
Often I find myself double-checking the "up" buttons on the door windows to be sure they were fully closed cause the sound inside seemed too much. Thinking of exploring the use of some sound deadening materials.............has anyone else been annoised and tackled this problem.

I covered my floors with sound deadening material . It helps with the noise and insulates the transmission tunnel keeping some of the heat from coming into the Jeep. I have a two door and I have the seat out for my dog to ride around. That was my primary concern.

Installing Armorlite flooring did help to quiet mine down a little. Eventually I’ll do the Hothead’s hard top liners when my wallet recovers. Most of the road noise I hear now is from the top especially in windy conditions.

I also installed the Armorlite flooring system. I put down sound deadening material on the tub first. I made the Jeep way quieter.

My Apple Watch shows 66 decibels at 70 mph. Not bad at all.

With the Cargo Dog boxes is the sound deadener under them still worthwhile as opposed to just the OEM carpet? I know they’re super easy to remove and install

During the pandemic, I was bored and did this. That's Kilmat and then the gray stuff is a thermal/sound insulating foam from Dynamat. Do this to the doors and they sound like a Mercedes when you close them, instead of a beer can with doors. I noticed it keeps a lot of tire noise from under the vehicle, out of the cabin.

I used SoundSkins insulaton precut fit for the doors and the floors. I put rubberized undercoating in the fender wells. Also added extra weatherstrip around the doors and the rear hatch and rear back glass. It helps a lot under 70 MPH after that not much you can do. I have a SKY One Touch top so I did not drop the windshield where I hear you can reduce noise further by adding sealant to the windshield glass and to the frame where it contacts the A pillar. Lots of stuff on YouTube about these fixes. Some good and some BS. Hothead headliners makes nice insulation pads for the rear window area and the hardtop. I put their pad under my Sky One Touch top for heat and sound insulation which helped but it is still a canvas top. All these steps really cut down on high pitch resonance at speeds under 50 MPH making it sound like a "Lexus" if that is what you want. Why wouldn't you want a less tinny sounding vehicle for a 1000 miles on your way to Moab? It will add some weight however, but worth it I think. In the end you have your Jeep your way and that will form a bond that you won't have with most other cars.

Rent a soft top TJ for a weekend and see if it puts your problem in perspective.

on mine I did the hotheads and sound assassin strips and noticed no sound difference altho in cold weather I think they help it feel warmer...I did back to back to back to back runs with and without on same road same speed etc using a decibel meter and never saw an improvement. I think you need to do what the others have done and use sound deadening mats all around...

also I am sure you have done it but sometimes reposition the freedom panels make a difference..more than one person has reported the seals being slightly off...

I did the sound deadening strips on the tub and installed the headliner with deadening strips on my 2020. It made a difference to me and I would recommend it if you have the time. Not difficult, just takes time. The biggest difference for me was when it was pouring, it did not sound like I was in a cave and the rain was pelting the ceiling and echoing throughout the cabin.

Here's what I have done to my jeeps that I believe has helped. As others have stated, hothead headliners with sound assasin strips are great. Though they may or may not actually lower the decibel reading, they do help with perceived road noise by stopping the echo of sound bouncing off the inside of your jeep top and make your sound system sound better. It stops your jeep from sounding like the inside of an igloo cooler and more like a vehicle with a headliner. I also like dynapad (different from dynamat though the same company) because it has a thermal insulating layer for heat and acoustical material to help diminish lower frequencies (like road noise and exhaust). When I removed the dynapad to sell my last jeep, I could literally hear the road below me compared to not noticing when I had it installed.
