I have two sets of Redlines struts, I think they're great, both work flawlessly. ?
The Redline Tuning offering is a terrific offering.. I have installed well over a dozen sets on JL and JT's and they all worked well/work terrifically.

A zillion people on this forum and on the JT forum have the Redline Hood Strut offering(s) and rant very very positively about the offering. Many say the Redline Tuning offering is their favorite add.

Sure a strut can fail or not be right but this is rare and @Redline Tuning is quick to send out a replacement strut(s).

IF you have a problem reach out to @Redline Tuning and have them work with you ...... versus posting attention seeking/whining forum posts...

I shook my head in disgust when I read the 2, absolute pure bullchitt posts earlier in the thread...

No your post was not one of them... I did not see your post as a pure crapola post... you were not talking negative about a vendor/forum sponsor's product and price point to get attention...

You do know though, right ? ..... that ...a particular Redline Tuning offering in stainless steel is the same same strut as the other with the plain black coating from Redline Tuning. Only difference in the two is the coating.

Yepper's I sure do...The first set had a faulty strut, the second did not.
Shit happens, no big deal. I don't really post anything negative about anyone on the internet, I just pick up the phone and call, like I did before there was the internet :).

I'm just gonna chime in with some positivity, because I love my Redline struts! Put them on this summer and been great so far. There's a lot to be said for small mods that just make life easier!

I'll note that mine don't seem to need much help opening, either. I unlatch the hood, release the catch, and they just glide right up.

I hear ya... I figured you had a problematic strut....

Sure, no ? that a strut or both struts could have an issue that would have them not performing properly.

So, you contact the vendor and get a replacement strut or whatever..

To come here and talk pure crapola about a forum sponsors product... , the price point of same or to bring up/compare to Chinese offerings....to me is not called for. You have an issue, call the vendor.... get it remedied and if not remedied then come here and mention the issue.

Same here! If I don't get out of the way, I'll take one to the chin. ? ?

I ask because I've read, and seen videos, where the standard JL kit struts don't lift the hood up without pushing it halfway first. I would like to unlatch the hood and it open automatically. Figured a stronger strut, like the ones in the Mojave or 392 kits, would work better at doing this.

For lots of info in regard to the Redline Tuning Hood QuickLIFT system offerings, do take the time to read through this whole thread...

I did but never saw specifics around using the stronger Mojave or 392 struts. That was my original question. I did PM Redline directly but they already answered me through a thread. I am ordering the Mojave version for the 20% stronger lift.
You also mentioned that the black and stainless are the exact same struts. I noticed the diameter of the stainless looks larger than the black one. I assumed that the stainless version had more fluid resulting in pressure/lifting capabilities. The issues I read about were all the black version so it supported the assumption of the stainless being a bit beefier. Either way, I was planning on the stainless regardless.

Seems you did not read all the posts at the thread I posted earlier...

SS and regular are the same strut... just different exterior coating/look.

I myself would not have ordered the "Mojave or 392 struts"... I'm quite sure @Redline Tuning would not encourage you to so either..

Hopefully with the struts you ordered that no damage, etc. to the connecting hardware / to the hood will result from the hood flying up with to much force..

No one else on the forums has done as you will be doing to my knowledge.. We will see how things go for you... Do post more after your install..

I was concerned about that slightly myself but on post #53, Redline said to get the Mojave version but not the 392!

Has anyone accidentally drop the back silver plate in the hood? I did and can’t get it out to finish the mod, but more importantly it’s rattling around in there. Maybe someone made the same mistake and has a solution. Thank you

That has definitely happened before, but I didn't do it. Good Luck!

Thank you. I will try a magnet on a string. Worse case I will incase with great stuff foam. I am too OCD to hear the rattling it is causing and it’s my fault.

IIRC, the plate is ferrous. Perhaps a properly strong magnet would allow you to fish the plate out by sliding the magnet along the length of the hood, beginning with where the plate is currently sitting.
