Have you driven a Wrangler with a camera that replaces the rearview mirror? Significantly better visibility out the rear, especially if you have bigger tires.
No sir. As I mentioned, I find backlit images hitting my peripheral vision too distracting. A rear view mirror whose light is identical to ambient doesn’t draw my eyes to it as much as screens. Infotainment Centers, GPS screens and dash lights are tolerable to me because they lack multiple objects in motion. I’m gonna blame it on me being old and cranky….LOL

My concern is car lights at night. If turned off can it be used as a standard rear view mirror if I find the glare to be too much?

I bought my father one for his truck. He is also old and cranky and doesn't enjoy new technology and he loves it.
Ahhhh but has he lived through two daughters? My therapist says ten more sessions and I *might* be able to drive with the map light on. Probably not….sigh

I put in a Wolfbox a few weeks ago, I love it. I did hardwire it and buy the kit to change the mirror bracket out so it isn't just strapped onto factory mirror. I mounted the forward facing camera on the winch and the rear camera with a bracket I found on Etsy. (pic attached) The install was easy with the hardwire kit. The camera on the back of the mirror is partially blocked by the cruise control box, but the other forward facing camera makes up for it. The rear camera really increases the visibility out the back with a 35" tire blocking much of the view with the factory mirror.

I've installed cameras in other cars and hid the cables. How do you do that for the rear camera in a soft top Wrangler Sport JL?

I pushed it along the edge of the carpet at the floor board (not the roof) and under the lip in the back. My hardtop is off more than is it on. For the back door I took all the trim off the door and routed the wire through the gromet for the tail light. I can attach some pics in a bit. You do see the wire in a small section when the door is open.

if you would, can you give a measurement from top of mirror to the trim panel above it that covers the mirror arm? in this pic this mirror looks much closer to the trim piece than the oe auto dimming mirror does in my JLUR. if it sits closer to the trim piece it might get out of my line of sight. for me the oe mirror is right in in my line of sight, especially when looking right. thanks

Greg, that measurement won’t help you, as the Wolfbox mirror screen is larger than the OEM mirror.

I can tell you this: I am 6’1”, and I keep my seat raised as high as it will go. The Wolfbox mirror screen does not intrude into my visual field any more than the OEM mirror. I can see the right side view of road conditions safely and with no problems. At night, as we live deep into deer, hog, and gator country, I can see the sides of the road just fine.

Instead of making myself nuts comparing Wolfbox choices, I’m down to 3 and looking for your opinion.

I see the technical differences. Mirror size, memory, resolution etc. Is it worth double the $$ for the pro? I run dual tops so I’ll probably mount the rear on top of the 3rd brake light if that’s a concern. Reviews are great online for all. Only other concern is the App Store ratings for the Wolfbox iOS app. Generally meh.
Thanks, Jeff

I really like my Wolfbox. The only downside for me is you can't flip the driverside visor all the way down.
