I've been watching too many videos of people who cause accidents on purpose, run red lights, or otherwise do stupid things.
I feel like a dash camera is becoming a really good idea.

Any recommendations?

I'll hit you up with a ton of links when I get home from work and shovel my way into the garage. Here's a hint: @WOLFBOX CAR LIFE 😁 😁 😁

I run the Garmin Mini 3 in all three of my vehicles.
Positives
I think it's the smallest camera on the market. All of mine are either in front of the rear view mirror or above it depending on wiper arc. It has excellent resolution provided you use a quality memory card.
Negatives
The tiny size is accomplished by not having an active screen. Active viewing is accomplished via Bluetooth and your phone. Reviewing saved data is done by wifi or pulling the memory card. This isn't a negative to me. But some might find it so.

I also have Garmin mini's in mine, in addition to the Wolfbox. Those were my first cameras. I still use 3 of them plus the TriPro setup.

Consider one that's disguised as a rearview mirror. Even if your Jeep gets broken into, it's extremely unlikely that they'd realize what it was, or be willing to spend the time required to remove it.

@WOLFBOX CAR LIFE has some great models, but you probably want to stick to the smaller versions that work with our sun visors.

I use Blackvue, fairly discrete & easy install.

Here is a link about me almost hitting someone who, IT LOOKS LIKE, wanted to be hit:

Brad from Trail Recon uses the @WOLFBOX CAR LIFE camera(s) in his vehicle(s): I saved the vid where he mentions it.

One more, but if you do a search, you will find LOTS of info:

GOOD LUCK with your decision!

I put in a Wolfbox a few weeks ago, I love it. I did hardwire it and buy the kit to change the mirror bracket out so it isn't just strapped onto factory mirror. I mounted the forward facing camera on the winch and the rear camera with a bracket I found on Etsy. (pic attached) The install was easy with the hardwire kit. The camera on the back of the mirror is partially blocked by the cruise control box, but the other forward facing camera makes up for it. The rear camera really increases the visibility out the back with a 35" tire blocking much of the view with the factory mirror.

My first dashcam had a screen. It was distracting during the day and annoying as hell during the night so I turned off the screen. Money spent on a screen I didn’t use that took up extra space and absorbed that much more summer heat. I’ve tossed that dashcam into the junk drawer and am running AZDome which connects via WiFi.

Me personally, I think you done good going without a screen. I’ll never buy one again as I don’t require it to drive and am okay watching a video on my phone or iPad.

Have you driven a Wrangler with a camera that replaces the rearview mirror? Significantly better visibility out the rear, especially if you have bigger tires.

On the Wolfbox how is the rear camera at night or in rain?
@Wabujitsu has been running his for quite a while now. Maybe he could chime in.

I have another (older) brand and rain is definitely an issue. An alternative would be to mount it behind the rear window glass.

On the Wolfbox how is the rear camera at night or in rain?
I drove through some pretty good rain yesterday with it and noticed anytime it did get water on it it seemed to clear off on its own within a minute or so (highway driving). The picture would only get slightly distorted and then clear up. I did leave the car out one night and it had dew on it that I wiped off and it stayed clear. Twice in the evening ive turned off the screen briefly to use it as a regular mirror, or to kinda check the difference as I had a sunset behind me and it seemed bright.
