Thanks. I'm thinking direct to the battery. Maybe construct a 12v buss bar as at some point I'll be installing my ham radio mobile. Does the auto-dim mirror have constant 12v power?
My guess is no. I don't have this mirror.

Also, in deference to @Rhinebeck01 you may find this post about how long certain ports in the JL remain energized after the vehicle is turned off useful. I did for another (Wireless Apple Play Dongle) application.

The USB port in the center console stays hot after the ignition is off. If you plug the camera into that port, doesn't it achieve the same result without having to mess with wires?
Likely does and I'll take a look but I'm THAT guy...the guy that wants wires hidden as much as possible giving added accessories a factory built-in look.

Jeff. This is a useful post on the lifespan of those USB port's energization after the vehicle is cranked down, which has been found to have a limited time of supplying current after parking.

Perhaps YMMV.

LOL...I'm usually THAT guy too, but I couldn't resist making use of the USB port in the center console, as well as the little side opening for a cable run. I never use that port for anything else, and it's pretty easy to conceal the entire 12' cable, right up to the center console. All that said, I suspect my OCD will eventually get the best of me, and I'll likely end up hard-wiring it as well!

I use the Mercylion Factory-Fitted dashcam, which is a non-hard-wired option. It offers dual 1080P front and interior recording, making it ideal for monitoring both the road ahead and the interior of the vehicle. The loop recording feature ensures continuous recording, and the built-in G-sensor automatically saves footage in the event of a collision.

For anyone who has a Rove R2-4K or similar Rove model dash cam, how well does it do while recording on trails? Does it have shake reduction technology so it reduces the bounce when played back? If not, any recommendations for a good camera to take on the trail?
