I was today years old when I learned that JL's might have a rear sway bar? Is this true for all models?? Did that get added with the JK? I don't recall TJ's having them?

Does it limit articulation as much as the front sway bar does?? I assume not as much else the Rubicon would have rear sway bar disconnects?

I'd guess that stability requirements make it so that a rear sway bar is mandatory on JL's. I originally left mine disconnected after doing a lift. After a month or so of terrifying body sway at highway speeds I decided to connect it up. There is a noticeable difference between connected and disconnected. It's a 15 min process to take it off if I really think I need that much articulation on a trail.

Thanks! With it connected, is articulation as limited in the rear as it is with the front connected?

The rear swaybar is more like a torsion bar or torsion spring…. It is designed to twist when articulating. It actually helps in some situations to keep it connected…..

The rear sway bar actually improves articulation, as counter-intuitive as it seems. There are videos on Youtube somewhere.

I've never taken the time to put it on a ramp and measure so no idea really.
I’ve tested mine, and it does not limit flex…..in this pic my shock is fully extended….

Nice. Are you running 2.5's in the rear?

with a 2.5" lift i have never needed to disconnect my rear sway bar. ive done multiple badge of honor trails with no issue. i dont plan of removing it while on the rubicon trail next year either

Thanks…. Are talking about shocks or springs ? Shocks are 2.5s front and rear, springs are 3.5”…..
Shocks. Are the 2.5's stiff at all when crawling?

No, they’re pretty sweet…. We usually set both dials on 1 when we’re doing slow stuff… with tires at 10 psi sway bar disconnected and shocks on soft, it’s a very comfortable day…
