How is the build quality? And how solid is it when up or down?? I have been eyeing this as i like the flexibility.
It's very solid up and down. It's sturdy and is attached well. It's rated for 350 lbs, I don't see how you could get that much weight on it though unless you were stacking lead bricks. If you want to remove it completely it's only 4 bolts with big knurled knobs so no tools are required.

Does the top expedition shelf fold down for loading, or do you just shove stuff up there?
It’s only adjustable height wise - there’s no folding/swing function so you just shove stuff up there.

There’s probably a dozen members now vouching for it. It’s a good product.

I have both the shelves from Expedition. I love them. Bigger one isn't fun to assemble, but the installation is super easy for both. Solid. No rattles. Adjustable. Look good. No complaints

@Ecorubi I like this setup! Are the XG cargo bags still easy enough to get into? Also what is the height between the two shelves? I have an ecoflow delta 2 max power station I'd like to set on the lower shelf and want to make sure it'll clear.

It's 11.5" from the lower platform to the upper. There is a 1" lip on the lower shelf. I have the lower shelf at the lowest setting and the upper shelf in the middle. It could raise about an inch if it was at the highest level. Cargo bags are easily accessible. I have the SOT top so my back windows pop in and out pretty easy which makes installation/removal simple. Once installed, they access fine.

@Ecorubi Thanks for the info! I think there is a chance I could get this to work. The ecoflow delta 2 max is 12" tall exactly and 16.25" long (footprint). I'm thinking I could probably set it on the shelf sideways to clear the lip and then rotate it under the upper shelf if I raise the upper shelf a bit higher.

Not so good at least for me, had it for a short while. The knurled knob had a weld or pinch of some sort which broke off the bolt making it useless. Also didn't work for me as their mounts got in the way of my quick release fire extinguisher mounted to the cpillar. This one below isn't the one that broke, but you can see where it would fail.

Went back to old faithful with the American Adventure Labs MASS shelf.

I have also used hooked and ARS (metalcloak affiliated company) on past rigs. The hooked one was cheaper but did ok with a few rattles. The ARS was solid and even had sides pieces predrilled for a twin arb compressor which I used. No issues there, just won't work on my new rig.

Another vote for the Expedition. Sits super high but still get all my recovery gear on it. Got a cargo net on Amazon to help hold all the bits in place.

@tk1700 How is this holding up over time - I ran across it and was thinking about getting it. Thanks!
It's holding up great. The only issue I've had is the knobs that hold it in place loosen after an extended time on washboard roads. They will start to rattle and I just tighten them by hand. I don't want to use loctite since 2 have to be removed to adjust the shelf. I'm going to make some rubber washers out of inner tube or similar material and see if that helps. The net that comes with it is ok. It's easy to secure things on the shelf with cargo straps.
