New TSB out on this for 'spark knock'. Symptoms are exactly this rattling I have and described by others. After testing fuel octanes across different stations, sometimes reduced rattling slightly but now it's back even louder. TSB calls for new PCV valve, plugs, head and valve cover gasket so far. Will report after mine is done.
Do you have the TSB number for us so we can check it out?

Waiting for warranty replacement infotainment screen and flash will be done at the same time. Not clear on ETA yet. Symptoms are exactly what we all mention here so maybe check your dealer for Spark Knock TSB, you might get the result before I do.

The rattle is 100% replicatable at above 83F ambient temperatures, engine is really hot, and in 2nd and 3rd gear at 3000 RPM.

The Oxigen Sensor on the driver side has this bracket holding its cable. The metal is made out of hard metal and rings like a bell. Obviously every engine has a slightly rough spot at certain RPMs. The Pentastar seems to be vibrating a bit more at 3000 RPM and this bell attached tol the oxygen sensor comes into resonance. You remove this braket and the rattle is gone.

Oxygen sensor driver side
He that's a very good finding. Can you please share pictures of where this is located on the wrangler JL so I can find it and test your solution on mine ?
The metal plank is on the Oxygen sensor driver side. Open the hood and look down at the exhast catalyc conver next to the steering shaft.

Just removed it. The cable has taken the shape it needs and is not falling on the exhaust.

My TSB service for this is still waiting on parts. It's a large engine repair apparently that includes tearing down and carbon cleaning down to the block and a new PCV valve system design. My current fuel mileage and power is down. First Jeep product, may be our last.

Waiting on my paint blistering to be repaired among several other issues including the rattling and now a rear differential internal issue. once painted I’m getting rid of it. 3 years new. The JLs are garbage.

Did this end up working for you? If so, do you have the TSB number?

I’m happy to report I received approval and had my four doors and hood repainted the result of the blistering. Hinges were all replaced too. This will be a significant issue for Jeep. I see the blistering now and again on other JLs. This took 7 months.
the 3rd party body shop did an outstanding job matching the paint!!
The engine knocking still persists however, I heard a JL Willys drive by me and upon acceleration the engine throttle/rattle was there. First time I’ve heard it outside my Jeep. It’s awful.
Anyone have any luck diagnosing the sound? I don’t believe it’s the metal clip because the sound didn’t start until about 15,000 kms

So I had engine misfires and code P420 for the catalytic converter. I’m pretty sure the spark knock noise is still there but will try higher octane and Lucas oil cleaner in the next week. We’re going to be having 90 degree weather so it’ll be the real test now. Just glad the rest of the engine work was covered by warranty.

Hi From0toJ,

Our team monitors the forum constantly and send every trend we notice to the appropriate internal resources for further review. Sending a private message and creating cases is exactly what we need in order to bring awareness to a certain concern. This is why we follow that process. I do apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced with your Wrangler and understand any disappointment as a result. If there is ever a time you're having trouble with your vehicle, we do encourage you to send us a private message with your VIN because it could be the beginning of creating a that service bulletin.

Have a great weekend and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello. It’s the end of 2024 and I am experiencing the same metal/growling/rattling noise. I have a 2020 JLUR 2.0T with 57k miles on it. The sound went away after changing my oil and transmission fluid 5 months ago. I am currently at 46% Oil Life and the rattling noise has returned and is very noticeable upon acceleration and when the transmission down shifts automatically when coasting down a road under speeds around 15-35mph. Not sure if metal pieces floating around in the transmission fluid is creating this noise due to pieces getting caught in the gears or what. Jeep Spark Plugs have also been changed at 50k miles. Is there a TSA for the rattling noise by now @JeepCares? If so, can you provide me with the information please.
