Drove yesterday in the rain and my wife says, "Why does it sound like rain hitting a tin roof in here?" Whomever said it earlier, was spot on. I guess it could be the plastic, def. the windshield area.
What if it is the water coming up off the tires and smacking the inner fender wells? When I was washing it I tried to spray different things and it didn't seem to do anuthanyat all until I got to the the fenders. It would make sense of why it stops when you stop.

I like this theory. (Rubicon, reg glass, hardtop)

Big NOPE. Was Just driving in the rain. Listening to the tip tip tap. Rain stopped. Roads still wet. The noise stopped. Sticking my head out the window, I can hear a distinctly different noise of water hitting the fenders. The tin sounding tapping is definitely from falling raindrops and NOT from water flinging off the tires into the fenders.

Just noticed this same sound a couple days ago. Only made the almost hail like sound when moving. I was looking around and really think it is the cover under the wiper arms. Blows my mind that this was never heard during testing. It is pretty loud and annoying.

I kinda find the rain tapping noise relaxing...an ode to yester-year Jeeps.

I noticed it on day 1. It's because the glass is thin and flat on the JL, and because the frame is now aluminum. Gives it a really "tinny" sound when rain is hitting it while driving.

I kind of enjoy it. It feels retro.

If you guys think it is the plastic cowl causing the noise, try removing it to see if the noise changes.

Same here, any chance this has something to do with the active noise cancellation, since noise cancellation is as effective with high frequency ?

Nope - I don’t have noise cancellation.

Maybe due to the plastic cowl or the grating in the plastic cowl?
