so here are a few pictures after warm up on remote start , so about 5 minutes of warm up and another shot 10 minutes into my drive . tHIS SUCKS !!!!
Yeah, it does suck for sure. Especially after driving a vehicle which had heated wipers and a functional windshield defrost.

Only thing I can suggest for now is to carry a folding map or other elongated item which you can place over the center vent. That will divert air to the edges... although you'll have to remove it when the center starts to freeze up.

I assumed it was fog inside the windshield that was not being dehumidified. Frost on the outside is another issue all together. That's a huge problem if blasting the windshield with defrost mode for 15 minutes. That definitely should have melted and cleared up the frost outside. I wonder if you have a blend-door problem? Is the air from the top windshield vents hot? Or do you feel its because the JL only has functional vents in the center and not in front of the driver and passenger areas of the dash?

The air is extremly hot so I dont believe its a blend door issue . It more like there is no airflow to the side of the windshield therefore its not going to melt ....

I read on another forum that tilting your sun visors down might help redirect air to the rest of the windshield as well.

Unreal, Didn't FCA test the HVAC? What the hell were the FCA and Wrangler engineers thinking when they designed the HVAC system? First it was the whole warm air blowing into the cabin on hot days when A/C was on. Now the heater and defrost can't clear frost and ice on the windshield on cold days.

Instead of hot air blowing into the cabin, next we will hear about blasts of cold air into the cabin this winter! This will be some fun reading.

Anyone with a 3D printer? A prototype snap-on finned central deflector that will spread the air over the whole windshield. The first retailer will be swimming in orders.

I will say that Mine seems to do like some others in that itā€™s either blowing super hot or cold with no in between. Iā€™m waiting for the cold weather to investigate this further

So, interestingly, we've had some cooler mornings with high humidity (typical South Florida pre-winter).

Using the defrost, I checked the vents, and like others stated, only the center vent seems to blow air. Now the interesting part was that after a few minutes, my entire driver's side had been defrosted, and only about 10% of the passenger's side. :)

I'm scheduled to take mine to the dealer in two weeks. Has anyone had their's fixed yet? Just wondering what the cause was determined to be.

Thanks!

So we had our first significant snowfall yesterday and we exactly as I figured it would . The windshield freezes over and you constantly have to scrape it and smack the wipers to get the accumulation off .... I went home and cleared the snow off and had to run back to the grocery store , The frost is the driver side view and the clear is the middle and small portion of the passengers side ...

What a shitty design !! I cant imagine how this could have passed any sort of testing , also dont know ho they would or could fix this without major problems arising.

@JeepCares Do you have any input on this? This is a safety issue.
Hey ormandj, Thanks for looping us in.

vents.jpg

Just to clarify, when in windshield or mixed mode, I don't feel any air coming out from the red area. The green area is fine. (The right side is not pictured but the same problem occurs on that side as well.)

The side window have a separate vent and they work fine.

Can anyone try this on their JL and let me know if this is the case on their Jeep?
Hi maguro,

I'm sorry to hear this is happening! As you appear to be located in Canada, unfortunately I won't be able to access your file in our systems or open a case for you, but FCA Canada should be able to help. You can reach them at 1-800-465-2001.

I also am experiencing this defrosting pattern. Has anyone else? I am scheduled for first maintenance visit this coming Tuesday and will ask about it then.

mcolv2 & Cobra1965.

If you're also experiencing this issue and end up bringing your vehicle into a dealer for diagnosis and need any assistance, please send us a PM so we can get a case started for you.

When I need amenities and creature comforts like a defroster, I take my Subaru. its not listed as an optional feature for a wrangler , but there are aftermarket dealers where you can get one
