Jeep Wrangler JL Question on badge etiquette 1736041340191-6

The 9 second car that was defined as a 9 second car by the driver that made it a 9 second car was now driven by a driver that just made it an 8 second car? LOL

That specific car is important too. The driver aint going down the track by themself.

If you are more of a person that enjoys tinkering and think it's all about the equipment, then leave the badges with the Jeep. If you are more of a "do-er", and enjoy the adventure, regardless of the equipment, then the driver gets the badges.
It reminds me of photography. I pride myself in taking decent photos. It irks me a bit when some friends and / or family say, "Nice pic! What kind of camera do you use?" I guarantee that if I switched cameras with most of them, I would still take better photos. It's about the light and composition. Yes, a good camera will help facilitate great photos when it is in capable hands, but the best camera in the world won't help a yahoo take good photos. It's the photographer. With the badges, I say it goes with the driver!
A compromise is to do both. Get a duplicate set of badges. There are after-market companies that make badges, including for some great trails that are not BoH trails. Jeep does not own the rights to any trails.
You’ve touched on a pet peeve of mine that I think is applicable to Jeeps.

I too am a photographer. When every idiot who owns a cell phone fancies themselves a photographer and you want to take unique landscape images then you have to go where they aren’t. That’s where the Jeep comes in.

With the ease of use of modern cameras if you want to take a cool picture just point it at something cool and push the button. But if you want to take a thought provoking photograph then you have to become a more interesting person. Your reward is the image.

Jeeps are kind of like that. Any idiot with money to burn can buy a jeep, mash the gas and launch it down a trail. Some make it, some don’t, and some die. But having the situational awareness to navigate a technical trail safely is all driver. I think the badges represent the story the driver can tell about earning it.

If you think the badges represent the capability of the jeep and should stay with the jeep, then buy a bunch of badges and put them on whatever jeep you like. No one will know.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some pretty good cell phone pictures. But the really great photographs are taken with a real camera. I bet very few people know the make and model of camera Ansell Adam’s used…

As has no doubt been stated already... they're just a piece of plastic. The memories they invoke are why people want them on their jeep. Every time I take a moment to look at some of them, I recall a particular experience on that trail.

So true. It is a constant reminder every time I get in the Jeep or see it; a memory or an adventure is sparked.

I agree. I added my badges to photos in my office and every time I look at them, I recall each trail experience.

I did all of the badge trails on my jeep with a childhood friend. I'm thinking of buying them from ebay and making up a photo collage of experiences on those trails and have it printed on a metal sheet with badge placed around them and giving it to him.

Trail badges are earned as a team. Your Jeep didn't do it without you, and you didn't do it without that Jeep.

Having said that, your Jeep doesn't care FVcH all about those adhesive badges. It has no memory of them. YOU do.

My opinion is to keep them for yourself. Personally, I wouldn't re-mount them to a Jeep I didn't earn them in, but I would have ZERO qualms with displaying them from a rear view mirror, or attached to a banner hanging from a seat, or sleeved over a sun visor, or...well, you get the point.

Well- “They belong to the plane ………… So anything done or given to the plane is the planes, not the pilots”……… “The emphasis here is on aircraft, if a pilot ejects from an aircraft and it is a hull loss then the new aircraft he operates would not have the victory markings”

Hello all,

I am curious to see what everyone thinks about the follow issue I have. I visited and completed several trails between my two JK jeeps. I order the badges after completing the trails but it was some time before they came in. Then as it always happens, life got busy and I ended up selling my last jeep. Fast forward to now and I have another jeep, do you think the badges belong to the driver who hit the trail or on the jeep that went on the trail. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this matter.
it belongs on the jeep that conquered the trail. if you want to show off the fact that you did the trail, then put those badges on a hat and wear it on your head
