So question - so we owned a JKU Sahara (2015) before and had aftermarket bumpers installed on them and had no issues. Now traded in the JKU Sahara for a 2018 JLU Sahara 4 Cylinder - so here is my question. Right now we have no issues (knock on wood) with pick up, drivability - we drove from Houston to Denver and Houston to DC with no issues it literally was fantastic. Now I am looking to put some aftermarket stuff into it - aka change out the stock bumpers and put in some new steel bumpers, and give it a lift (has no lift right now), and put on 35" so question is will this 4 cynlinder handle the extra weight of these extra stuff? The JKU if I am right were V6 - so thoughts? Any feedback would be helpful

Should be no issue as I added bumper and winch to my 2.0 Rubicon and it has more than enough get up and go. The 2.0 maybe less horses but not by much from 6 cyl but also produces more torque. The rubicon’s come standard with 33’s and I could put 35’s on without a lift but I will be doing same in 6 mo’s adding lift, black rhino or fuel wheels, and 35ā€s... really the only thing you may have to do is add a puck to adjust any sag from new weight in front and of course the mpg’s will drop.

It will handle all that and more. The 2.0 loves bigger tires etc. The turbo changes the whole dynamic of engine size.

If you swap out the plastic stock bumper for a steel one AND add a winch, you may get a front end droop of up to an inch or so I believe because of the added weight (+200 lbs around). You'll need to add a spacer to the front suspension to correct. With just the steel bumper you should be fine, it's only with the winch.

Also, the steel bumper will bolt right up with all the hardware, the only thing missing is two extra bolts you'll need that don't come on the Sport. Plenty of threads regarding the sizing and set up. I'm looking to upgrade my bumper as well and read up quite a bit on it. Vast improvement on looks over the plastic one for sure.

+EDIT: FYI This is assuming you're going to stock steel.

Replaced the rubber front bumper with a steel bumper-stubby and a 10k winch, has the same gidiup and go as before. Planning on a 3.5ā€ lift and 37s’ with 488 gears, 4by shop says-it will be fine, some loss in mpg’s.

Hi! I’m in AZ too (Gilbert)...which shop are you using? Did they do your bumper and winch? I am thinking about some mods and regearing and looking for recommendations for a local shop.
Also I LOVE your bikini Jeep! I wanted that myself and almost ordered one, but I was impatient and decided to customize a Sport instead. I’d appreciate a recommendation!

On Point Performance & Off Road Center. Been using this shop for years, first on My TJ, then my FJ Cruiser’s, of course now my JLU.

I purchased both items on line and had them delivered. Directly to him. Worked out perfectly.

His shop is on 55th Ave just north of Camelback
