Had to jump start a dead battery. Everything worked but the power steering is went off. Checked all fuses, checked fluid and took to Dealer and they ran a code test - No codes came up and they have no idea. They cannot set appointment under June 25 so asking if anyone else seen this or an idea what is wrong? Everything works, just almost impossible to turn the wheel.

Replace the batteries and check to make sure the z-case fuse didn't blow. If it still doesn't work pull the right front headlamp assembly and check the two ground eyelets there for looseness.

I have the Etorque 2.0 engine so do not have the small ancillary battery. The battery seems to be fine as it stayed charges overnight and not showing any bad symptoms. Will check the two eyelets and research what a z-case fuse is. Thanks.

JLUR 6sp ordered 11/3/21, picked up 8/30/22
Was it cold? Has the condition persisted across multiple starts?

One cold morning a couple weeks ago, I had this symptom.

After I restarted it for the trip home from the grocery store, when the engiAne bay had warmed up the problem went away and has not returned.

When I googled the prob, I found that a couple folks had it caused by a loose ground terminal on the battery; since you had to jump it, maybe check that.

Also, check the fuse for the power steering pump.

That's all I've got.

The z-case fuse is the big fuse block in the PDC. One wire supplies power to the powersteering pump. Make sure they all check out OK

I have ordered the z-case fuse. Sure hope that works. It will be here the 18th. Thanks. A few people mentioned the z-case fuse. Interesting that the dealer showed no fault codes. But then who knows. It heads to dealer ahow on 24th if I can’t get fixed first.

When you pull the z-case fuse, you should be able to easily test it with a multimeter.

If you don't have a multimeter it's definitely a worthwhile investment. It takes maybe five minutes to pull it out and the fuse. I'd hate you see you waste money of a fuse you don't need. It's common but it's worth checking before ordering a new one.

The new z-case fuse did not change anything. Still no clue so guess it heads to the Dealer on Monday the 24th.

Why would you replace something without testing it?
Why was your battery dead?

Also the odds that you have no P/S and no codes is pretty much zero.

Did you bend your steering stabilizer? That's about all that is going to do that. If there is ANY fault with the EPS system, it will set a fault.

having a bent SS should not prevent your power steering from working or at least trying to work. it sounds to me like the electric power steering pump got fried or disconnected somehow or possibly a rodent chewed the wires. Have you looked at the electric pump side of things and made sure all the wires are intact?

I've seen it. I've also seen steering column U-joints fail and have the same symptoms. Nothing wrong with the "power" part of the power steering at all.

Any circuit fault with the pump motor or controller will set a code.

There are no codes being generated. Nothing on an OND reader either
