Hi thinking of trading by 21 sport JLU for a new JLU with power soft top .. any feedback on this option ? Rented one in Nantucket and loved it - no freedom top hassles. OK in New England. Cooler weather/ rain, etc…

Other than the $4,400 cost (after taxes), one disadvantage is if you ever plan on taking the top completely off. That said, if the power top is all you are looking for in your open air Jeep experience, less of an issue. Another option is the Bestop Sunrider top for hardtops. It gives you the same quick option to open the top (front seats only) without messing with the freedom tops and still allows you to take it all off if you want the top completely gone.

I absolutely love my sky one touch top!! I bought my 2020 rubicon jlu new and the roof was the reason I bought a rubicon since they didn’t have any other models available at the time anywhere near me with the sky one touch.

The convenience of going topless whenever I want or being able to put it back up if it starts raining is simply amazing. I have never had a single issue with the top, including zero leaks. Huge benefit compared to the freedom tops I had with my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara.

I will never go back to having a wrangler without this sky one touch roof! With the roof open it makes the truck incredibly open and the rear side windows also come out and store in a bag that came with my jeep- opening up the truck even more!

I highly recommend making the switch! ?

There was another thread on this topic.

The pattern was that people that had the SOT consistently praised it. The people that were adamant about its flaws didn't have one and seemed to be merely speculating about them with no real experience.

Mine, if it ever gets finished, will have one.

High cost. High complexity. Complaints of wind noise and even water leaks. Complaints of what it looks like when open. Complaints about rear panel(s) that stay in place when it's open (something surrounding panels when it's open, I didn't pay that much attention to this one). Concerns over security but this was mostly debunked.

All of that said, people really seem to LOVE them so I suppose that is what matters. If you are lazy AND like to be topless most of the time, it's for you. Otherwise, pass on it.

“Lazy???” How about disabled? How about living somewhere, like Florida, where you can drive into and out of five showers or thunderstorms on one trip into town?

I am assuming you were just trying to be funny, but I wanted to point out just a few reasons, out of a plethora of reasons, why the SOT makes sense and makes folks happy.

I had a 2018 JLUR with dual tops and traded it in on a 2022 with SOT. I think all three have their pluses and minuses, which can be influenced by where you live and what kind of weather you get throughout the year.

Personally, I find the SOT to be a pretty good compromise of the hard and soft top. The biggest “downside” for me is that it just doesn’t have as much of the “open air” experience as the fully flipped down soft top…but some of the conveniences of the SOT help make up for that. I haven’t had any issues with it so far (knock on wood), although I’ve only had it for about 6 months at this point.

Based on your experience, I doubt you’d regret it if you made the swap. Either way, you’re enjoying the Jeep life so it’s a no-lose proposition! Hope this helped! ??

They are very nice to open and close if you encounter rain like Jeff has in Florida.

We enjoy ours but now that my wife drives it more, she loves it.

The only issue is it's not as open as a hardtop removed. I found out with the doors off you do get much more air flow. You must like the look too.
