Hello all. I have been thinking about buying the Trek Top soft top for my Jeep. I like that slanted back look. Has anyone here has one. And can share the good the bad and the ugly

I had one for my JK. I ended up hating it. Your cargo hatch volume is cut in half, you end up with zippers that end up channeling rain instead of facing vertically and unzipping them requires going to all 3 sides of the back of the Jeep instead of just the back (as you unzip it from the back the zipper moves further away from you). I knew going in that not much would be gained, but I thought at least it looked cool. That is until I saw like 3 in one day. Now I have a useless and played out soft top. It was also much louder than the OEM premium top that it came with. I ended up selling it and going back OEM.

I had exactly the opposite experience. I got tons of compliments on mine on my JK, it was completely waterproof, and I loved being able to just flip back the front section at a stop light. You definitely lose cargo volume but that never impacted me and I thought the noise level was the same. I have one on pre-order for my JL. Can't wait for summer.

Just curious, when you have the rear portion removed and then you flip the front part up, essentially you have a "bikini top" but only covering the rear set of seats correct? I'm debating between a Trektop and an OEM soft top to use in the spring and summer. I already have an Alien sunshade that I love so I wonder what I'll gain with a Trektop - other than being able to remove the top and rear easily.

Well, I've been running the JL Trektop NX in heavy rain, ice, and snow as well as days where it's super windy. So far, I haven't seen a single drop of water leak inside the Jeep. The top is quiet and doesn't flap in the wind at all. The map pockets above the front row are a nice touch. The Sunrider can be operated without leaving the driver seat if you're a man and therefore tall enough. The windows are very simple to remove and reinstall with the new channel system. It seems like a really great top so far.

You could probably unbutton the rear section and undo the hook-n-loop over the second row and then roll up the bikini top and stash it under the sunrider. That would in effect give you a 100% open soft top when you want. Obviously you can run it as a bikini top also.

My only complaint is that the fastback design eats up 50% of your cargo space....and getting into that cargo space is always a PITA with any soft top. And, since there is no longer a rear wiper you lose visibility quickly in snowy weather.

But, if you're someone who rarely ever accesses the cargo area, it's the best top on the market in my opinion.
