Any idea what these elastic straps are for on the back of the soft top?

Pretty tough to roll up the rear window of premium soft top?

Just guessing here as I still have six days (but who's counting) before I pick up my Rubi ...

Any chance they're meant to wrap around the top when it's folded down completely? Or perhaps when it's folded and you're removing it so that it doesn't open of flop around too much when it's being carried?

I have the straps on my premium soft top. I am told they are so you can roll the rear window up.

I messed around with the straps a bit and this is the best I could figure out. The sides don’t roll very well because of the plastic tabs used to attach the window to the corner braces.

Speaking of rear tabs, does anyone have a problem with them popping out all the time? Every time after I drive it I go back there and they are out. Not very secure even at less than highway speeds.

I asked the dealer about it. Of course they have no experience with it yet, but he said “once the top ages it should shrink and tighten up.” Which sounded exactly the opposite of what I expect to happen.

@kurt13 i have the same exact problem. The left one almost always comes out whereas the right one just comes out periodically. For what it is worth, I drove it through a blinding rainstorm yesterday and the whole inside stayed absolutely dry. Just part of Jeep ownership.

Those straps weren't attached to my soft top, instead they were in the same package as the velcro straps.

After sticking them on there my, untested, theory is that hold the crossbar that is too long to lay in the cargo area. I don't think they are for rolling the window up as they don't loop around anything. But you could slide the crossbar in there and probably lower the soft top to "store it".

Isn't the bar supposed to stay in place when top is down?

Supposed to? Not sure. But it slides out easily and has the same channel that the rest of the windows use. I think it's meant to come out. And since it's too long to be stored in the cargo area (on my 2 door at least) it makes sense to me that you'd hang it there. Will try it later.

I never got any straps with my JL. Are they absolutely necessary when the top is down?

I take out my crossbar and put it back into its designated home when top is down.
I have rolled up the rear window and used the straps to hold it because its too long for the cargo area either way.
I also just have the standard sunrider soft top, premium wasn't worth the upcharge to me.
Its a wrangler, I really don't care about road noise...Blue sky= top down.

I have the premium Soft Top. I do not hat those straps.
I do have a pair of Velcro straps that I wrap around the rear window. I wrap the rear window in towels and roll it up around a foam noodle.
