I have a Hard Top on my 2014 JK. I am looking at trading for a JL. Comfortable with the hard top, but am considering the Sky One-Touch Power Top. Let me know your experience with the Sky One-Touch with your pros and cons.
I was looking for a newer, low mileage used Jeep. I looked at a 2021 4xe with a hardtop and found the road noise to be negligible. I ended up passing on that one. Then I found a 2022 Sahara high altitude (I didn't need the HA, but it had the items that I really wanted) with a SOT. If I were ordering a Jeep I probably wouldn't have paid extra for it, but it was a nicely equipped Jeep at a good price. I probably would have never taken off the hardtop but its nice to have the option (and I didn't know about the sunrider at the time). So now I have the SOT and I open it occasionally. I find the interior pretty noisy though which is disappointing because I really hate road noise! But thanks to your question I just learned about the hothead headliners and I think I will be in love 100%. As others said, its nice to have the option when riding around town, and when you stop somewhere, you can close the SOT and lock up the Jeep. Lots of people here said they wouldn't do it any other way. I've learned a lot from these forum questions!

I love mine. It's louder in the cabin than the normal hardtop but the Hothead liner went a long way to negating that.

If you want to drive at highway speed with it open there is quite a bit of fabric buffeting. But because it's convenient to just open it once at the trailhead or while around town, I don't even bother leaving it open on the highway.

I can confirm that the Alpine system is fine with the SOT, both open and closed. There is a consistent weird blip in audio when opening and closing that folks on here seem to think is the system switching between open and closed sound profiles.

I will note that I have never bothered to take out the corner windows. Unless Jeep was also going to give us a way to easily remove the rear glass, I don't see the point. Having a panoramic, on-demand sunroof is more than enough for me.
I found the hothead website but I don't know what I'm looking at. I'm looking to reduce road noise. I don't think I want the sunshade...can you tell me what I need (2022 4 door Sahara) and if it is easy to self-install? I'm fairly handy...thanks in advance!

I think I found what I wanted...two more questions...is it necessary to do the back windows? And what color did you use? My interior is completely black so that seems the logical choice...but it is very dark. Maybe the dark grey would be better to lighten it up? Any thoughts? Thanks again!

No need for the back windows, but you can get them after if you decide you want them. I went with graphite color because how dark it was in the cabin and to break up all the black. Not sure it made much difference, but my second one in my new jeep is the same color.

Is the top enough, or do I need the back windows too?
I did get the back windows option. Just looks great and further reduces interior noise. Mine is in camel/brown to match my interior.

I'd recommend the window option but it's not required. The headliner itself IS a requirement in my opinion and is how it should have been sold from the factory.

I like my SOT a lot. As long as you can get over how it looks when the top is back and the rear quarter windows out (some say it looks funny). Never had a leak; it is somewhat noisy at highway speeds. I do not understand those having difficulty or implying it is difficult to remove the rear windows. It's two levers on each side. Simple.

The fact that you can just push the buttom anytime, anywhere, and to any size opening you desire make it (imo) worth it. Love mine! Condition it twice a year with a Softtop conditioner and wash with just water.

LOVE mine. Traded a JT, because my the JL is high velocity, has the 3.0, LED headlights and the SOT. Finish a twelve hour shift, hit a button and the top goes back, just like my Miata.

the only issue I have had with noise was driving into a quartering headwind between 45-55 MPH. Loud AF! Also killed my fuel economy, but still better than we see in the wife’s 3.6 :)

am considering the hotheads liner, but mainly to help keep the interior cool, any noise reduction will be a pleasant side effect.

Wife has the SOT in her Jeep and she loves it, I have the regular hardtop with freedom panels on mine. There are times I would not having it on mine, but could not find a diesel with one at the time, and I don't mind what I have.
It is a great feature for quick open roof access and quick close if it rains. Wife is always telling me how much she loves that top, when she comes home from work and had it open. She has not said anything about noise, so I'd imagine it is not that much different from my Jeep.

I’ve found that with the removable quarter windows that come with the sky one touch, with the top back and the quarter windows out and especially with doors off I don’t feel the need to remove the entire top. Do wish the rear window had a quick disconnect and removal but not a deal breaker. I’ve removed entire top and was relatively easy with just a handful of easy bolts to remove and a quick disconnect for power. We love it!
Beyond it looking silly with the rear windows out but the top and rear window still on, when off-roading in tight canyon or tight tree areas, not having to worry about the rear corner of the hardtop hitting something when off camber makes all the difference. For mall crawling the SOT is convenient.

Pros: very convenient to transition into an open top and you can also remove the rear side window panels. Cons: wind noise is louder than jeep with hard top(quick fix...turn your radio volume control knob clockwise). Wind noise will be louder if you put a crossbar and a roof basket. Crossbar you can put on it will look a bit higher than a crossbar for a hard top(look at my profile photo). If you intend to use a roof top tent...I don't think it will support that weight. Other than that I love my sky one touch.
